Health visitor antenatal visit

Hello

I've just been offered a home visit by the health visitor when I will be 32 weeks. I didnt get one of these visits with my first child so I'm not sure what it's about. I'm not sure if its vital does anyone know? It feels very strange to be letting someone into my home at the moment when midwife appointments have been done over the phone

Did you have any form of pnd after your first? I had pnd and antidepressants after my first and with my second that seemed to trigger additional support visits before and after the birth to make sure I was ok, and to give me help if I wasnt. I found it helpful, my health visitor was lovely and easy to talk to. But if you dont want the visit you can decline it. It's in no way compulsory.

Hi OP, it's a new thing apparently.

I got a text message from the HV basically introducing herself and explaining that they now like to do an antenatal visit between 28 and 32 weeks. Mine was a few weeks ago so was just a telephone appointment due to covid but i was on the phone for over an hour and found it really helpful.
She just explained the schedule for visits in the days/months/year after birth and we discussed safe sleeping, feeding, support services, family, recovery etc.

Mine was over the phone. Could you ask to do it by phone instead? I was on for about 20 mins and found it helpful.

It’s optional I would decline unless it can be done on the phone. As it’s not your first baby I would decline a phone call too.

Thanks everyone I've arranged a phone call although they want to do it via video. I'm not sure how much conversation will happen with my 4 year old joining in!
