Pregnancy

Who should I call to prescribe/see me over the weekend?

Hi all,

I’m 13 weeks pregnant and think I have a urine infection.
I have burning when I wee, feeling like I need to go all the time when I don’t, Tummy ache and increased (normal coloured discharge )

What I am unsure of is who do I call for help or a prescription of anti biotics over the weekend?
Would it be 111 and then they would help with an out of hours gp?
I know I have the maternity triage number but I don’t think this is serious enough and would hate to take their time away from ladies that need it.
It seems to long to wait until Monday.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you Smile

Call maternity triage - if there's somewhere more appropriate for you to go (out of hours gp etc) they can direct you there.

I call the maternity triage all the time, they've assured me that it's ok even if non urgent. I think "hogging" 111 is actually worse as they're more oversubscribed. Also with pregnancy, sometimes you never know if it's actually something more serious than you think so call them! (Nb I wouldn't call 999 unnecessarily but my maternity assessment hotline have repeatedly said it's ok to call for something non urgent)

I mean, they said it's ok to call the maternity assessment hotline for something non urgent, not 999! My last sentence didn't make that much sense lol

I had this a few weeks ago at the weekend, did an online 111 enquiry and they were really quick at calling me back and getting me sorted with antibiotics.

I called 111 when I had a suspected urine infection and was prescribed antibiotics which I collected the same day.

I called 111 last night because of a urine infection, had antibiotics in my hand within half an hour !

I’d call 111 not maternity, there will be an on call/out of hours doctor they can refer you to. Hope you feel better soon
