I only gained about a stone, but I lost 25 pounds 10 days after birth, obviously lots Of that was baby and waters, and I haven't re gained or lost any more since. That was 21 weeks ago.

I was, and am, Very overweight already though and barely slept or ate in those first ten days, I've since been very careful with portions, my downfall, since and haven't got bigger at least 😂.

I remember searching Mumsnet for this exact topic before giving birth. I put on 4 stone across pregnancy.

2 weeks later, I had dropped 2 stone (baby was 8lbs).

4 months later, I've lost another stone and a half so half a stone until pre pregnancy weight. Formula feeding my child.

With hindsight, I would say don't worry about it now. My body needed the extra food.

Two weeks is way to early to worry about losing the weight. As pp said, you need the energy. If you're breastfeeding, your fat is made directly into milk. You will be sleep deprived and maybe not able to access food in the same way. Be kind to yourself and take it slow, you have plenty of time.

I gained 4 stone, lost 1 in the first 48 hours and another over the first fortnight. Last 2 came off over the next 6 months, lower than pre pregnancy weight after 1 year.

Unless you are eating excessively or the midwives have expressed concern just accept that you are carrying a baby and a load of baby related fluid and try not to worry too much about after until you get there.

I'm always really slim in the immediate weeks after giving birth (due to having nausea all the way through) but it quickly piles back on again as my appetite returns and breastfeeding makes me very hungry.

You win some you lose some Grin and when the baby is here it will probably seem less important.

I put on four and lost 2 stone in two weeks. A stone and a pound immediately after and then the rest was water weight. I was sweating and going to the loo constantly. Overnight my ankles depuffed. 9 pounds of it went in five days. Sadly the remaining two stone weren't so easy to shift!

I lost 1.5 stones in two weeks with stress from my birth and being in hospital!

Gained 3 stone. Lost 2 in first 2 weeks. Almost lost the third through not making time to eat or having much appetite. But then started eating crap and drinking wine again and it has slowly crept on. Im currently approx 9lbs heavier than when I got pregnant

Two stone in two weeks! The other two took a little longer.

I gained 13kgs in my recent pregnancy (which Google tells me is a little over 2 stone. I'm currently 2.5 weeks postpartum and have lost 4kgs. I haven't changed my eating habits and have probably actually been snacking more. I've also not been exercised in the way I would have been.

Don't worry about it now OP. You have more importantly things to do...! Also breastfeeding burns fat - after my first pregnancy, I lost the extra within 8 weeks.a

I didn’t know my own name 2 weeks after the birth! (Exaggeration obviously). I have no idea what I weighed at any point really... does it matter? Be gentle with yourself, your body will be healing and settling back to normal. Not to mention having all your usual eating, sleeping and exercise patterns disrupted. Give it at least half a year before you start to worry!

@Pipandmum I was exactly like you! Only put on 13lbs. Lost it all immediately but then put on all of it and more by being ravenous through breastfeeding.
I'm not sure you should worry though- just focus on you and your baby and eating generally healthily and it will be fine

I’ve put on 2 stone and I still have 8 weeks to go. Just feel like my legs are hugeeeee and worried I’ll be down if I’m not happy with myself afterwards

I put on about 4 stone and then lost about 1 and a half stone in the first 2 weeks, took about another 6/7 months to get back to my original weight and I had to be very strict as I was quite slim pre-pregnancy. I put too much pressure on my self and now 23 weeks pregnant and won't put the same pressure on myself again. Give yourself a year as your body needs time to heal

I didn't put much on with both my pregnancies. With dd2 I was losing weight before she was born. After her birth I ended up a size 6-8 I looked awful.

I began pregnancy on the low end of my BMI.
By the time I delivered I’d gained exactly one stone. DS weighed 7lbs at birth and 2-3 days after I was only 3lbs over my pre pregnancy weight.

It depends how much weight you gain during pregnancy and how you carry it. If it’s all bump you’ll likely lose it quickly but if you spread it might take longer.

I was tiny pre pregnancy, put on four stone and lost 15lbs by the end of week one I think, then a further stone by two months and by three months was only a stone over weight, by choice though as didn't want to pressure myself when I was struggling with lack of sleep.

Do people genuinely weigh themselves after two weeks pp?! I have absolutely no idea how much I lost after birth... not sure I started weighing myself until I started to try to lose weight around 3 months pp

Babyg1995 · 29/05/2020 05:29

I gained 5 stone last pregnancy and lost 2 stone in 2 weeks then a further stone I'm now 7 weeks pp but having to work to get it off this time .

Gained 4 stone with both pregnancies. 4 months pp with dc2 now. Probably lost 20lb after two weeks but I was stuffing my face with hospital food. I'm now 3stone down in total 4 months later.

Like you I gained lots of weigh early. First trimester did weird things to my appetite. The 3rd trimester weight gain will be mostly baby so wouldn't worry x

@FilthyforFirth (great name by the way) I did. Ordinarily I wouldn't have and rarely weighed myself anyway, but someone made a comment which made me worry so I stepped on the scales.
