Just for fun, when and how did you find out the sex of your baby? Private scan? NHS? At the birth?

We decided not to find out, 39 weeks atm and so excited to find out at the birth!

At the birth with DC1, the hospital policy was not to tell and private scans weren't a thing back then. I was convinced I was having a girl and was in total shock when DS1 popped out.

With DC2 & DC3 we found out at the 20 week scan.

Dd1 at the birth nearly 28yrs ago.

Dd2 Didn't find out I was pregnant until i was 5mths. To be told there was baby was enough of a shock.
DH told me when she was born.

Found out at a private scan at about 18 weeks. I had a pretty crappy pregnancy and wanted to do something nice. I really thought I was having a girl though so was quite surprised when they told me I was having my lovely little boy.

At the 20 week scan. We were going to ask anyway but during the scan I was sure I had seen boy bits and when she confirmed it and showed me it was very apparent! He was very keen on flashing at all my subsequent growth scans too!

First time was via private scan around 24 weeks as the local NHS policy was not to tell.

For DS2, we had a private scan at 18 weeks so that DS1 could come with us. It was lovely.

Technically speaking at a 24 week scan and confirmed for certain at 28.
20 week scan sonographer got it wrong and I was so convinced she was wrong that I refused to tell anyone.
24 weeks was told the opposite! Got a lovely bloke for my 28week and once I explained the confusion he spent extra time showing me that DS was definitely a boy, as I'd known all along.
I knew I had extra growth scans, which helped, or I'd have paid for a private one.

At the birth for both of mine.

This was 15 years ago though so not sure how normal it was then to know/ask the sex. I know some people asked.
At my scans I was never asked if I wanted to know the sex and to be honest at the time it never occurred to me.

Looking back I loved the 'it's a...!' at the actual birth. Not sure why that was.

It's just personal preference isn't it.

Found out at a private scan at 16weeks for both of mine, I have no patience! 😂
Had it confirmed by NHS at 20 weeks
