Pregnancy

Friendly forum..?!

I just wanted to start a thread with ZERO negativity. MN is supposed to be a safe place and I for one am sick to death of seeing nasty, toxic, bashing replies...wether it be slating someone's parenting style or choice of name or feeding style I believe there are ways and means of giving constructive criticism or pointing out a better alternative to someone's choices without bashing on them and making them feel crappy. So..maybe let's start a group with a lot of love and helpful friendly advice 🥰

I've honestly never seen any negativity on the Pregnancy board.

Really @Bezalelle I've seen so much, people can be super critical on here. I'm glad you've had a positive experience though ☺️

I haven't either, this is the only downer post I've seen

The irony @Sorbfsiabs 🤣 I set up a nice friendly group and you call me a 'downer'

I called the post a downer, which is a reasonable statement, there was no need to bash me.

Amen! There is a lot of negativity and snide comments.

Report
BabyB19 · 14/01/2020 21:17

I've seen a lot of it @ALC1985 I would hate to think there is someone sat at home with worries and anxieties and scared to ask the question for being judged or criticised. Don't get me wrong there are lots of wonderful groups on here and it's an amazing place, but like all walks of life a select few can ruin the peace.
@Sorbfsiabs it was a negative comment regardless which as the title suggests is not welcome.

I've seen so many judgemental and negative comments! Good for you to trying to spread a bit of positivity. Not a downer...IMO don't comment on a thread if you have nothing supportive or kind to say to the OP. I've seen plenty of posts I don't necessarily agree with but I have better things to do with my day then write a message on an online forum bashing a stranger for their different views or lifestyle. Hmm

Anyway wishing happy and healthy pregnancies to all. I'm 36 weeks with second and getting excited now. X

Oh how exciting @emmyloucuddles how have you found it? Do you know what you're having etc? I'm roughly 8 weeks, have a scan tomorrow to get a better idea on dates ☺️
And exactly my opinion, as I was always brought it with the mantra, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all 👍🏼

But what one person views as a "negative" or "bashing" comment might be another person's no-nonsense advice, surely.

Not everything has to be sugar coated in huns and kisses. We're all grown ups here.

I know what you mean. Sadly, kindness is not the strong point with some people...

BabyB19 · 15/01/2020 08:56

@Bezalelle I saw a post yesterday asking for opinions on names, names are personal not everyone will like them, but you can say something like 'that's not for me sorry' rather than 'that's vile and your kids getting bullied' it's not about sugar coating it's about being decent. And that's just one minor examples I've seen much worse on more delicate topics like abortion for example

It's not @kikibo but I'll try and do my bit and be nice so I hope this post finds people who needs a bit of hand holding or a safe space x

I've noticed there's a lot of bitter women on here these days unfortunately... I also live by the mantra if you've got nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all! I'm 30+3 today and I we're having a 4D scan tomorrow, I'm so excited!
@BabyB19 Good luck with your scan tomorrow, I hope your little nugget is well. Sending love! ❤

Oh how amazing, my friend had a 4d scan last week and the baby looks so much like the father it's spooky! @HighOnStilts glad all is going well for you. I've been awake all night with quite strong cramps, we'll like stretching pains really? Did you have this so early on? I thought this would come later? X

I haven't seen my baby's face yet as she's been hiding every time I go to my ob. So it's going to be a complete surprise.

Not long now, though, as I'm 2 days over already.

Wishing you a speedy and easy labour 😊

@BabyB19 I never had cramps so early on, it could simply be implantation cramps but I would suggest you mention it to your midwife tomorrow. If it gets any worse or you start spotting I'd contact them today, just to be on the safe side! X

HighOnStilts · 15/01/2020 10:11

@kikibo Is this your first? Are you nervous about the birth?
I've still got like 9 weeks left until due date and up until now I have put the thought of childbirth to the back of my mind.. I'm petrified! 😳 X

BabyB19 · 15/01/2020 10:11

I will do @HighOnStilts there's no spotting or anything with it and as I'm already seeing them tomorrow I'll just monitor today. I've just been looking in other threads and it seems quite common, fingers crossed ☺️ x

@BabyB19
Yeah just keep monitoring, I try not to rely on MN when it comes to medical advice 😉 but if you're concerned the midwives will always be happy to see you even for something you might think is very minor! X

@BabyB19

if it makes you feel better, I had loads of aches and pains very early on with this one and and was constantly freaking out! I actually went for an early scan to check everything was ok after a day of persistent cramping and sharp pains when I was 7 weeks. I've gone on to have period cramping on and off for most of this pregnancy.

It could just be stretching/burrowing. It's always better to get checked if you are worried though xx
