Mulled Wine?

Do you think it would be OK to have a glass or 2 of mulled wine at Christmas time - I will be 6 months pregnant. I assume much of the alcohol evaporates during heating?

It's fine. But it's still alcoholic. Mulled wine isn't boiled, just gently heated, usually with a lid so retains most of the alcohol. You'd have to heat it for 2 hours at 79degrees C to evaporate all the alcohol in a bottle of wine.

I love mulled wine at Christmas. You can get alcohol free mulled wine or mixed spices to make your own. Our local Co-op sell it, it tastes very good.

I'm sure it would be fine.
However, if you've never tried non alc mulled wine, I'd give it a go. I had it last year at a Christmas market, and also a bottle from IKEA. Both very good!

Id get the alchohol free one as mulled wine is strong and im sure it will taste the same. I never knew u could get alc free.
my baby will be a few months by then and i will be breast feeding so alc free will be what me & alot of mums or mums to be will be drinking.

Last Christmas I had a glass that was half orange half wine so it was a very small amount, but agree the alcohol free would be better.

To the PP you are allowed to drink when you breastfeed - you would have to drink a huge quantity for it to be dangerous in your milk!

You'd really be alright with a glass or two, assuming you aren't glugging it down! If it's home made and has half a bottle of brandy in it of course that would be an issue, but the ready made stuff - especially if you are like me and accidentally do boil it pretty much every time - isn't all that alcoholic.

Angelinthenightx you can breastfeed and drink.

This is said whilst breastfeeding with a glass of red in hand! Don't deprive yourself more than necessary, please.
