HELP! - terrible pain in nether regions

helenelisabeth · 22/07/2007 11:43

Is this normal? I feel like my bits are about to fall through my nether regions. I am in agony and can barely walk. This has gradually got worse over the past week or so.

I am 33 weeks and suffering from polyhydroamnios (excess fluid) so am carrying more weight than I should be in my uterus. This probably isn't helping matters much.

Thanks in anticipation!

Have you checked if you've got SPD or not? I think it depends if the pain is centred on your pelvic bone. I've started physio and it concentrates on exercising the pelvic floor and lower muscles - the physio lady explained that its like a basket holding the baby so we need to strengthen the muscles at the bottom. I guess that would make sense if you're carrying excess weight with the fluid etc?

Hope somebody else will come along soon with more wisdom than me!

Hi by the way - I've just come from the Sept thread!

It's not too probable so don't get worried, but this sounds a little bit like it should feel when the baby's head engages. 33 weeks would be quite early to engage but it doesn't necessarily mean anything if it has.

Is it your first baby?

It could be something else entirely but tht's just what sprang to mind.

I've just googled polyhydramnios and one of the symptoms is varicose veins. Is it possible that you might have some of these, er - you know where?

There is bound to be increased pressure with all the fluid, so it would be quite possible.

Thanks girls for replying. Going to check the SPD out Princess - this sounds quite likely.

Rang midwife - she told me take some paracetamol.

I have a feeling it is because I have done too much this morning, I have literally ripped my DD's bedroom to pieces to clean it! Hope I am not nesting already.
