I came across an article about amniotic fluid embolism.
I won’t go into detail as I don’t want to trigger anyone, but I’m now convinced it’s going to happen to me.

I don't know what it is but if you are experiencing high levels of health anxiety you should speak to your GP or midwife to get some support.

It is extremely extremely rare. I've worked in maternity full time for 8 years, we r an massive unit and in that time I've not known of one case so try to not worry! Instead try to read positive birth literature and gain an understanding of the birthing process

Imo if we read all the articles pregnancy related nobody would ttc.
Step away from Google op.
And relax.

Suggest doing things to take care of your mental health, or if self care isn’t working for you seeking help - I found counselling for anxiety during pregnancy really helpful.

Also, this might be better under mental health as other pregnant women might see this and become anxious!

It is incredibly unlikely. I suspect you had never heard of it before, and were shocked, so the article has made a huge impression upon you.

At the beginning of my first pregnancy I was reading a What To Expect type of book and came across a particular complication that I had never heard of before, and was horrified. After a few days I stopped reading the book. In the run-up to my first scan I struggled not to think about that complication. Even as the scan began, I was expecting to be told the worst. But I was not. It was a perfectly normal, healthy scan. And that fear...disappeared.

It's the novelty of it all, the shock of learning about a frightening complication that you've never heard of before. It makes a huge impression upon you. But it is still incredibly unlikely. It's just your imagination yelling at you.

Focus on the now. Focus on enjoying the pregnancy and your beautiful blooming body.

Never ever ever ever Google that stuff when you're pregnant. I'm fully convinced that there is just too much information out there right now and alot of its credibility it's dubious at best.

If you've had your initial assessment, you would have been categorised in high, medium or low risk. And even then they have a clear set of procedures to help monitor baby and mama if you're high risk.

It's very easy to panic and become anxious. Chill. Stop googling. Relax. Your baby needs you to be calm. I heard somewhere that stress and anxiety affect baba far more in utero than they do on the outside.

Anxiety is common when pregnant but doesn't achieve anything as what will be will be. Try to rationalise things, it's HIGHLY unlikely, lots of things can go wrong, but again highly unlikely as most pregnancies work out really well
Try to relax but feel able to discuss with your midwife who would have heard so many other mums to be worry too - mine called me a 'worry wort ' bless her but I had many miscarriages and she was being friendly by saying 'I know you've been through a lot but you're being a worry wort' she was amazing and I have my two children now 9&6
Good luck but don't worry needlessly by yourself Thanks
