Too much folic acid?

Hi ladies
I’m worried I have been taking too many supplements. When I was TTC I immediately bought a pack of 400mcg folic acid. I usually take zinc daily and vitamin D, however, I also bought a pack of pregnacare ‘trying to conceive’ version and took all supplements together. When I fell pregnant, I moved onto standard pregnacare but continued with the separate supplements as well. The vitamin D looks to be ok but I’m abit concernedsboyt the folic acid. With my pregnacare and stand alone supplement I’ve been taking 800mcg of folic acid as well as trying to eat lots of fruit and veg daily and cereal.
I did read that some people are prescribed higher if they have a history of neutral tube disorders but I don’t so worried I’m taking too much. X

My midwife told me your body can only absorb so much Folic Acid and the rest is excreted in the urine. I took 5mg tablets and also Pregnacare until I was 16 weeks. 800mcg is nothing really! Don't worry.

Agreed I was on 5mg, so 5000mcg prescribed by the Dr you'll be fine

No need to worry, I'm taking 5mg prescribed by doc and they said to take pregnancy vitamins too and there is no problem with taking too much.

I'm on 5mg too (on account of being chunky). Honestly don't worry, 800 is fine for anyone.

It was queried whether I should take more due to family history and my midwife told me that taking more doesn’t hurt basically
