Why have I signed myself up for this?

Been TTC for some time. Took a big job just before Christmas, very long hours & due to travel between 7 countries from mid March for a month - will be quite physically demanding. Signed up to it to challenge myself & take my mind off all things baby.

Fast forward to today & I discover I'm pregnant (approximately 6 weeks). Have been feeling sick, but not dreadful. But I am now terrified to be going away - I can't let down my team, but feel I need to tell one or 2 key people, I'm not sure. I need to tell my work insurers too I think? I suddenly feel vulnerable & don't want to be away from DH. I hate flying & normally take diazepam, but now dont think I can. Essentially freaking out completely. Sad

Any advice appreciated.

Hi, didn't want to read and run.

I'm in a different situation but can totally relate to the panic and fear!

In my case my pregnancy was totally unplanned (contraceptive failure). I'm also around six weeks pregnant. Being 21 and a full time student I FREAKED. I was not happy at all.

But, now I've had a few days to process it I'm becoming happier day by day. I'm still absolutely terrified (this'll be my first child), especially of the unknown and just how dramatically our lives are gonna change, but it's totally normal to be ambivalent/have mixed feelings, even if the pregnancy was planned.

Now, I'm excited to be welcoming this baby. Congratulations, and I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy Flowers

If you are 6 weeks just now youll be almost 10 weeks by mid-March, sickness etc will be settling down itll be totally fine! I went to south east asia (2 x 7 hour flights each way) for 2 weeks when I was 8 weeks pregnant and managed no problem

I travel a lot for work and went to Japan when about 8 weeks pregnant. The flights themselves were fine but I wasn’t prepared for how badly jet lag would affect me. I was absolutely exhausted by it and it took me longer than normal to adjust.

However I’d be cautious about telling your employer until you’ve had your first scan unless there’s a requirement eg for insurance purposes.

Have you thought about other treatments to help with your hate of flying? Hypnotherapy maybe?
