What works to induce labour naturally?

Hi all, I know most will say "the baby will come when there ready", but I'm just wondering if anyone has ever had any real success stories when trying natural things at home?

I'm 38 weeks, baby is fully engaged & have lost my mucus plug - having few BHs but nothing serious.

I would like to try some ways to induce labour at home from next week and am interested in hearing what worked or what did not for you?

My midwife said the baby is ready and is well above average in size & efw. So from 39 weeks I would love to try and get the boat sailing, I really do not want to go over due! Although I know the baby will come when he's here I would like to give a push in the right direction.

Please feel free to share what worked for you as it would be very helpful, I started drinking red rasberry leaf tea from 36 weeks, hopefully this will help my cervix to soften as I have heard positive reviews.

Thanks!

Hand expressing colostrum apparently may help, plus helps establish milk supply. You can also freeze the colostrum just in case

I think the hand expressing milk thing was the only thing I DIDNT try, and my Lord I tried it all when overdue with my youngest... even acupuncture! It was a horrid experience!! Lol

You can't induce naturally. They are the opposites to each other!

I know it's frustrating, and I also tried a lot of things.

Good luck.

Nothing does work! If there was a nice natural way to induce labour that worked, then maternity units would be doing that instead of pessaries and drips!

RLT won't help bring on labour. You're thinking of evening primrose oil. That's a natural prostaglandin and can help soften your cervix. RLT is supposed to just make labour move along better once it starts by making contractions more effective. If you've lost your plug, I would say a good bit of regular activity, sex (with ejaculation inside you, semen also has natural prostaglandins in it), and nipple stimulation. But be careful that you can just trigger prodromol labour where you have contractions and a very slow start that can be really tiring instead of just giving your body time to kick off when it's ready.

Acupuncture!
Was 10 f days over with a high bp, and the v obstetrician started feeling me to come in tomorrow and we'll made a plan. I went to my ohs friend who is an acupuncturist who needled my ankles (!) And I had my first contraction. Dd was born the next morning, naturally.
Look them up in yellow pages op, it works x
