Tell me your morning sickness remedies

I am trying to count my blessings that I'm not a HG sufferer but I am struggling with regular old morning sickness this time around. I have a long commute by bus in the morning. Yesterday I had to get off half way in order to throw up, then wait in the freezing rain for another bus. Today I made it all the way to my destination, but threw up promptly as soon as I got off. Tomorrow I have to drop off DD1 on the way, which means I need to take a later bus and will have literally not one minute to spare so if I need to throw up before arrival, it will need to be on the bus. Obviously, I'm really not looking forward to these bus journeys. Does anyone have any tips? Is it better to eat or not eat beforehand? Sympathies to anyone suffering the same, it's bleak.

I find sips of full sugar coke, ideally slightly flat, really help. Plus ginger biscuits. Neither the healthiest but haven't found anything healthy that works! Also there are pregnancy vitamins that have ginger in, can't remember the brand, which may help a little. Hope it eases up soon!

I always felt worse if I didn't eat! I used to take a packet of ready salted French fries everywhere! I found they were easy to nibble, and ALWAYS carry polos!

How far are you?
I'm 23 weeks now and haven't been sick for a few days; told my cousin how happy I was that sickness had gone.. only to be sick an hour later!!

With DS it left at 13 weeks, and DD it left at 15 weeks.

Waitrose does ginger shots they work a treat as they are low cal, ginger (obvs) and still give a quick sugar boost which stops the nausea

Bottle of water to sip. Strong, fresh mints and a scarf so if I smelt something I didn't like I could move my scarf up slightly and breathe minty freshness. Easier in winter - in summer I sported a floaty light scarf all the time!

If I didn't eat I would be sick and some days I almost felt I had to get puking out the way before I could carry on with the day, that worked for me though as I would only be sick once or twice a morning

Unusual things though were balls of mozzerella, cans of starbucks chilled espresso (I was careful with other caffiene sources Blush!) Walkers ready salted, fruit juice.

Vitamin B6 - worked wonders for me. And stuffing my face with carbs!

For me it was salt and vinegar crisps, orange juice and sometimes an apple.

Bubblegum chewing gum and boiled sweets helped me get through teaching lessons without throwing up. 'Luckily' my morning sickness turned into throwing up every time I brushed my teeth. Which was actually convenient as I knew when it would happen every day.

I have put my foot down and am not doing public transport in the first Trimester! When I can’t have the car I am shamelessly taking a cab to work . It’s a short time in life when it’s deserved i think.

Make sure you eat, even if it's just nibbling on a biscuit. And if you are taking prenatal vitamins, consider taking them separately. I found pregnacare made me sick so I took folic acid, vitamin d with calcium and iron all separately with one of those fizzy vitamin c tablets and this helped loads

Polos. Bananas. Never letting myself get too hungry.

Watermelon helped this time.

Thank you so much for the tips. I made it without throwing up today!

Am only 10 weeks so there's at least a few more before the end is in sight.

fakingit I'm jealous of your taxis! I racked up a large bill towards the end the last time when I was too huge and exhausted for walking up hills. Sadly we've now moved and the distance would make this cost prohibitive.

noodlesandtomatoes what led you to take vitamin b6? That sounds like an easy thing to try and one with no dietary downsides!

I found eating something like 2 crackers before l got out of bed helped. Otherwise l got sick immediately after getting out of bed. Its such a tough time, l found.
Be careful not to eat too many polo mints as they destroy your teeth.

Can't really help as I have HG and tbh nothing's really helped loads other than my medication but definitely don't do it on an empty stomach, that will make it worse. Eat plain, dry food in the morning and keep snacking on it throughout your commute if possible, I find that helped me when i had 'regular' morning sickness the week or so before the HG really set in.

I hope it starts to ease off soon Flowers
