Did anyone find out early what sex they were having?

Hi,
I'm 20 weeks pregnant on Christmas Day! 😍 but not going to the hospital for my scan till the 28th Dec. We really want to find out early as we have a little girl who think will benefit from going for a private one. My only prob is not sure when's best to go I know they say from 16 weeks.., altho I did hear the other day at 14 weeks you can find out which is crazy!
I was thinking between 18 weeks as surely by then you will be able to tell.
I'm really interested if anyone has been to a sexing scan what week you decided to go.
Many Thanks x

I found out the sex of my baby at 9 weeks through a blood test. You'll definitely be able to find out my cousin found out at 16 weeks xz

We had a scan at 16 weeks and took 2 year old DS. We are having a girl this time. DS insists it's a boy!

You can relatively reliably tell the sex of a baby around 15/16 weeks - so if you have a local baby scan company (Window to the Womb et al) then you'd probably get a good idea around 17/18 weeks. I think the threshold is 16w.

Oh and we took DSS to a private scan for or gender scan as we wanted to do something for just us three - he loved it Grin

Fab thank you ladies!! We have a place not far from mine called Take a peek. Expensive but totally worth it. My little girl is so excited altho wants a girl!! 🙈😂
I'm not too bothered as long as the are healthy and all is ok with baby. I think one of each would be cute. Altho I think she would love a sister!

We had a couple of extra NHS scans as we had some consultant referrals for various genetic risk factors etc and at every scan we were told it looks like a boy - by the time they confirmed on the 20 weeks scan it was old news.

I went for a private scan at 17 weeks because I was just too impatient. It was a really lovely experience, lovley room with diary lights and comfy sofas nice ladies who really spent time talking to us and showing us the baby.
We found out it was a girl and went straight out and bought her first outfit.

I found out with my little girl at 20 weeks then later in pregnancy had another scan in 3D/4D they are totally amazing. If they were cheap I'd go every month to see baby!!
Love them! It's a nice way to bond with them too before they are in your arms. xx

I found at 16.3 I think. The place I went to (window to the womb) don’t do it before 16w or tell you they can’t guarantee. It’s £59 worth.
I found another one and was similar price and also from 16w on.

And yes you’d be able to take you dd so she could enjoy her little sister or brother

I had a private scan with baby bond at 19weeks. Easy, relaxed, and if you just want a short 10 mins or so scan and pictures it’s only £39.

Found out at 12 weeks (maybe before slightly) with the harmony test. Loved knowing.

My friend was told by mothercare she was having a girl at around 16 weeks.... they were wrong!! He’s definitely a boy, she did get a free 4D scan by way of an apology and luckily hadn’t bought much.

Just be prepared that it’s not 100% accurate.

We found out just before 16 weeks at window to the womb. Was a lovely experience. They do lots of offers too so look on fb (if you're on it) as I'm sure I saw an offer on for a gender scan with about £20 off near me.

Congratulations!

We paid £500 for a Harmony test at 10 weeks, but for the trisomy results rather than for the sex

Even though we knew already, we asked the fetal medicine consultant at 15 weeks if they could tell the sex, and they said they could only be 60% sure at this stage, and would default to guessing ‘boy’
So I’d be wary of getting a totally accurate answer from a sonographer at 14 weeks

I had a private scan at 16 weeks and it was no mistaking he was a boy.

Yes I've heard sometimes they can get it wrong the hospital advised us to make sure they are all NHS trained as you apparently you can go on a course for sonography. So said just be wary. I was thinking if we go at 18 weeks they should be able to tell by then but going back to the hospital for my 20 week scan so will double check then. Xx

We went to Baby Bond at 16 weeks. I specifically wanted a scan at 16 weeks to check the baby was ok between routine scans. My husband wanted to know the sex.

My 1st lo I found out at 15 weeks as I had a consultant appointment and he did a scan and asked if I wanted to know and he was right. Because I found out early with the 1st i booked a private scan at 15.2 weeks with this one and they said boy but said they obviously can't be 100% and to double check at 20 week scan. 20 weeks they said boy again, but they always say it's not 100% accurate.

We went to BabyBond when I was 16 weeks and they told us very confidently it was a girl and pointed out the labia/three lines etc. The sonographer also worked for the NHS which gave me more confidence. I gave birth earlier this month and can confirm she is indeed a girl Grin

We found out at 11 weeks with the harmony test as well, but we did it for the other results, not the sex.
I'm pretty sure they'll be able to tell at 18 weeks

Found out at 10w with Harmony test! Although it also told us it was twins so the sex result (boy) might have applied to both or only one. As it turned out at the 20w scan, it looks like B/G which is exciting.... but then toddler DD was a boy at her 20w scan so I take these things with a pinch of salt!
