Baby arching back during scan

Hi, I was just wondering if this is normal? When she started scanning me my baby seemed to wake up and started arching it’s back a lot, really quite freaky! I’m quite big so they weren’t being prodded or anything but they just seemed like they really didn’t like it.
Is any noice emitted during scans for them? Has anybody else’s baby arched like this and been okay/not okay? I’ve just never seen this before!

Thank you for reading Flowers

What you experienced is perfectly normal. Some babies wriggle and move about a lot.
There is no noise emitted from ultrasound machines. Ultrasound is perfectly safe scans send sound waves which bounce off the baby to form a picture.
If you have worries you should really ask the person performing the ultrasound they will be pleased to reassure you.

At my 12 week scan our baby kept stretching out/arching his back. The sonographers only issue was it meant she couldn't measure him properly! (Eventually he did play along). I'm sure if it was a concern they'd say.

There's been no concerns noted then or since, or at my 20 week scan. Now 28 weeks and his movements often feel more like stretches than kicks so I think that's just how some babies are.

Thank you so much for the replies. I probably should have asked but at the time I was just thinking awwww look at them! It was only afterwards looking at the pictures did I start to worry and wonder.
I’m glad it’s normal though! Thank you again Flowers

How can they not arch their backs with their legs and arms and bodies being all squished.

Did you not ask the professional who was scanning you if it was ok? But honestly, if it hadn't been ok the person scanning would have taken action.

It took over 40 minutes to scan DD at the 20 week scan as she was twisting away from the scanner thing and they couldn't measure her properly. She also wasn't very cooperative in the 12 week one. Totally normal that they wriggle around and squirm when your tummy is being squashed about. It was great for us though as it meant we got to watch her for longer. She is a squirmy madam now she is out in the world too!

they weren’t arching their backs at first, with my other two children I have never seen it happening either. I mean arching inwards/stretching really far with their heads back. I think I’m just extra worried because this baby was one of two but one died, I think I’m just nitpicking everything
