15 weeks - brown blood on wiping - so scared

I'm 15 weeks today and just went to the toilet. Apologies if TMI but I had to strain for a poo and then, on wiping, I had some brown blood and mucus (from vagina).

I've had three early miscarriages in the last 14 months and I'm so scared. I've phoned the EPU and am going in for a scan at 2:20pm tomorrow. I'm in pieces, I really don't know what to do, can't stop crying.

Is there anyone who can reassure me? Has anyone else had this and it all turned out ok? I don't think I can survive another miscarriage - it nearly destroyed me last time.

I had a private reassurance scan yesterday because I've been so worried but EPU didn't think it was likely to be anything caused by that. But now I'm panicking.

My OH is at an interview and I've got to pick DD up from nursery in an hour. What do I do? I need to stop crying.

Oh bless you. You’ve got to 15 weeks which is amazing and has a low chance of mc. Many friends of mine have bled on and off. Fingers crossed all is well tomorrow

Straining is one of the leading triggers of bleeding - and if you’re not in any pain (cramping etc) that’s also a very reassuring sign. Will be think of you OP.

Thank you, both. I really hope it's all ok. Got to try to pull myself together to pick up DD.

When I was 9 weeks pregnant I went to the loo and on wiping had a noticeable amount of brown stringy discharge. It lasted for 3 days and I was distraught. Convinced I was miscarrying. Went for early scan and they saw no cause for it. Suggested if it's brown blood then it's old and not as concerning as bright red fresh blood.

That little 9 week scan bean is now a very sturdy, funny and energetic 6 month old.

I don't want to give you false hope but I really really wish that your story ends up like mine.

I once at 16 weeks had what seemed like a massive bright red gushing bleed. It was nothing which amazed me. That dc is now 8.

I had bleeds (red blood) at 13 weeks and 14 weeks and it turned out to be a subchorionic bleed. I also know 2 others who had the same.

I suspect it was from straining! Like a PP said if you have no pain or cramping it’s a good sign and presume your scan yesterday was positive?

Make sure to have a full bladder tomorrow so they can see the cervix etc as they couldn’t after my first bleed as I didn’t know I had to have a full bladder!

Thinking of you OP hope all is well tomorrow Flowers

{{{}}}. Hope it's nothing.
I had red bleeding at 19 weeks and again at 29 with DS, he was fine and born on his due date. When I mentioned this to friends I was surprised that a couple had had a similar experience. So scary at the time though, fingers crossed for you.

Thank you, all. Yes, scan yesterday was fine - baby wiggling about and good heartbeat. Finally got the courage to tell friends today and get out the baby name book. Hope I haven't jinxed it.

I'm not even going to say try not to worry as I know that's impossible but since you had a scan yesterday I would inagine everything is OK. If it was anything sinister then the bleeding wouldn't start so soon I wouldn't think. Sorry if that reads badly I just wasn't sure how to word it and stand to be corrected if I'm wrong. I had some red bleeding about 33 weeks and it turned out to be a cervical erosion that caused it. Also in a previous pregnancy I had a massive red gush of blood at 12 weeks and all was fine. I have my fingers crossed for you and hope your scan goes well.

If you have seen a heartbeat and are past the 12 weeks the chances dramatically reduce of having an mc. I bled through my first pregnancy and all was fine.
Good luck x

Thank you so much for the encouraging stories and support. It's really appreciated. I'm feeling marginally less manic this evening in that - touch wood - I haven't had any more bleeding. Hoping that continues overnight. Fingers and toes crossed. I'll update after the scan tomorrow x

Just a quick note to say thank you to all of you for your posts. The scan went well, baby fine and making themself comfortable. They couldn't find any reason for the bleed but I won't be straining to do a poo again any time soon! x
