How do you deal with needing to go to the toilet ALL THE TIME?

This is driving me mad at nearly 32 weeks. I'll be in the middle of doing something and suddenly I'll need to go to the loo RIGHT NOW or there will be a puddle on the floor. I went to the loo 11 times last night! Sometimes I'll barely have left the toilet and I'll feel like I need to pee again. Crazy!

I know everyone warns you about this, but you don't quite understand how frustrating it is till it happens!

I would get checked for a uti if I were you as you shouldn’t be desperate all the time, or so desperate that you can’t make it.

I did actually get checked the other day and I was fine - so I don't know, perhaps I just have a weak bladder or something! Hopefully it will go back to normal at some point....

I would get checked out with you midwife, I am not expert but you may have an infection of gestational diabetes. Hopefully it’s a happy baby bouncing on your bladder though 😂

Me too... I'm only coming up on 20 weeks though.. Last night we went out for dinner.. I needed the loo 3 times in 2 hours! Up at least a couple of times of not more during the night too.
Currently sat on a bus from Dublin to Belfast trying to distract myself as there is at least another hour of this journey left on a non stop bus!! (Train strike meant we couldn't get our planned train which at least would have had a bathroom on board!!!)

Ditto what the others said.

Also, since being in my last trimester, I always go to areas I'm familiar with where I know there is a loo nearby.

I'm the same and have had repeatedly had tests for infection etc. Even if I don't drink much after say, 8pm I feel desperate and then only a little comes out. In the night it's a minimum of 5/6 times and I don't go to bed till 11.. And up at 6.30 so not far off hourly Grr.
It's weird it must be more when my body is relaxing though as at work during the day, if I do drink more due to the heat and physical activity u seem to either go less or be able to hold it easier.

Can't help going in the day but I noticed that I didn't need to get up at night anymore once I stopped drinking anything 2 hours before sleeping.

Sorry you’re struggling with this so much! Have you tried doing kegels to help strengthen everything down there?

I used to be like a camel and would pee once - twice a day and now it’s all the time! Up about 3-4 times in the night as well!

I used to be 'like a camel' too - I'm a teacher and we always joke about having to have a bladder of iron, but it's kind of true. I'm pretty sure it's the not one but two babies bouncing around that's causing it (I'm having twins). I should give Kegels a proper go though! I'm going to need my teacher's bladder of iron back after maternity leave...

I’ve heard that everything is worse when carrying twins so I’m not surprised you can’t stop peeing lol it sounds so frustrating though! Babies seem to use bladders as play things.

Have you asked your midwife for advice? She will have heard it all before and may know some tips from past expectant mothers that may make it a bit easier.

My MW has advised Kegels (I've just been lazy about doing them) and not drinking too much before going to bed, but I've always been one of those people who go to bed with a glass of water. I find I wake up with a really dry throat if I don't drink at night :/

It is just frustrating because I will be lying in bed having just got comfy enough to sleep, and then I suddenly DESPERATELY need to pee and have to get out again!

I feel your pain! I’ve always got thirsty in the night and since getting pregnant, I can’t drink anything except bottled water for some reason, so I go to bed with a bottle each night.

One thing I’ve been doing is waiting a couple of minutes when I need to pee to make sure that my bladder doesn’t get too weak. It seems to be helping but my friend says this could lead to a uti so I have no idea if I should continue or not lol

Are you doing pelvic floor exercises?

Report
wasMissD · 03/11/2017 21:03

From personal experience, it's probably Pelvic floor and bump related! Make sure you do your PF exercises cos I'm still peeing loads and my baby is 3 months old GrinConfused!
Not as much as when heavily pregnant though.
