I'm 28 weeks and my blood test results have some back that my iron level is low and I'm borderline anemic. I had anemia with my first pregnancy and the tablets they put me on really disagreed with me. Midwife has said for me to try and boost my iron levels naturally but I'm not sure what I can do besides having a Guinness
When I needed to boost my iron levels in pregnancy, I got the gp to prescribe me Spatone. It's essentially water with extra iron that's easily absorbed. I used to put it in squash to mask the taste (although it wasn't that bad). I also ate dried apricots, almonds and a Lindt dark chocolate bar with orange and almond in. I don't normally like dark chocolate, but this one was really nice.
