Four month wait for a dentist?

It's my own fault for not keeping up with booking regular dentist/hygienist appointments but I asked my local NHS dentist if I could book a hygienist appointment today and they said the next one is in four months! A month before my due date 😂

I've booked another one privately now instead as I know dental hygiene is important in pregnancy but just wondered if that's usual for dentists or is mine particularly busy?

Mine are terrible if it's anything NHS, and particularly bad if you have maternity exemption. It takes months or certainly many weeks to get an appointment, they won't do anything as an emergency etc. If you're private however...🤔.

Obviously they have to prioritise private patients and they're partly paying to be seen immediately/when suits them, but it is frustrating when you can't get an appointment or treatment.

Even when I'm not pregnant the wait time for the hygienist is 6 months and I'm a private patient. Moving my business elsewhere from now.
