Pregnancy

Crazy emotions.

I'm 14 weeks and quite simply feel like I'm losing my grip on sanity.

I'm either exhausted, sick, or emotionally ready to burst into tears or a rage.

I'm at risk of redundancy which means I miss my maternity payments by 1 day, and DP is off sick on government sick pay (so nothing, more than 85% of normal income) and MIL has decided to fly off the handle at us for reasons personal. My own mother is recovering from major surgery. So while I'm trying to keep up with expectations of happy mum to be, truth of it is I want to hide away until everything blows over and someone gives me a magic answer to everything.

Feel like I've been robbed of "first time pregnancy" feeling of excitement.

Has anyone else struggled like this going into the 2nd trimester?

Flowers you've got a lot on your plate OP! Hormones do crazy things to your emotions too- I seriously underestimated this before I got pg- but you do feel as though you're going slightly mad!
I felt under pressure to be the 'happy mum to be' too, especially at the 13-15 week mark when people were starting to find out. In truth I felt sick and scared with a touch of irritability.
Although things are supposed to settle down in the second tri, I didn't feel myself again til about 16w.
Can't advise on the work front but in general, you've got your little one to think about now so sack off the stressing MiL and focus on you.
Hope things calm down soon!

I've been told 16w too so I'm holding on till then.

Although I know there is a lot going on I also know people have worse situations and worry that people do/will think I'm just being over dramatic if/when I explain it all yo them.

There's always others that are worse off than you but don't let that invalidate your feelings!
It's a real roller-coaster especially in the early days so do whatever you can to make things easier on yourself.
Hopefully there will be someone understanding irl that you can offload to?

Oh certainly, I have my mother and DP. Unfortunately both are out this week as circumstances state but I'll just have to muddle through until I can talk to them.

It's nice to have this place for support too.

I'm glad you've got your mum & DP, hope they're around soon!
If it helps at all I'm 24w now and feel back to myself emotion wise and those feelings of going crazy are a distant memory.
I'm still a bit nervous about buying things but I'll end up running out of time if I don't make a start!
Just another thought but if you weren't pg, where in your cycle would you be? I find I still fluctuate a bit as I would if I was about to come on.

Oh, I have no idea but that's a interesting thought.... Need to look into that! Could make a lot of sense x

Agree with PP, I have still found fluctuations in emotions similar to previous cycle even though pregnant, similar feelings also. It does end or get easier to deal with! Definately improved second trimester but I think this should be changed to start at 16 weeks as this seems to be the actual time people feel better!!!!!!

Hello OP

I can empathize, I am suffering from mood swings, pmt like crazy rage, its awful. However, on top of the hormones it sounds like you have a lot on your plate which is over loading you. Be kind to yourselfFlowers

My DP just got readmitted to hospital, it's 2:40am, I'm due in work in a few hours, and I myself spent all morning in EPU after pain and discharge. My HP kicked off again tonight after the hospital smells got too much. Can I get a break and a holiday now?
