Hi all,

Has anyone experienced a blood stained thick mucus show at 8 weeks?

No pain or anything but I'm worried sick that it'll be the start of a miscarriage:(

Thanks

Hi geology, there's no way to say really. I had similar (about 11 weeks) and sadly it was a missed miscarriage for me, however many people have some sort of bleeding in early pregnancy and are fine, I fact I think statistically it's more often fine than it is a miscarriage. Was it just a one off or has there been anymore since? If I were you I'd call the midwife/epu for advice, it's probably nothing but a quick scan could put your mind at rest x

I had a brown bleed at ten weeks. Pregnancy was fine. I wondered if it was implantation blood.

Literally a once off. There wasn't a huge amount of blood but it was like a show I had for my previous pregnancies before I went into labour so I was concerned it was my cervix opening.

I'm on "knicker watch" all morning now and will go into the EPU later and see.

Did you have a bleed after or was it only in a scan you saw it was a Mmc?

I think 8 weeks is a pretty common time for some normal blood from what I've heard. For me it was just some brown bloody mucus initially, a very small amount but it did keep coming and going over the next couple of days and I had that 'heavy' sort of aching feeling you get before a period. I think if you aren't having any cramping or discomfort then it's a good sign and for most people a small bleed is not neccesarily bad news. Worth getting checked to put your mind at rest though, good luck x

Thanks so much for the reply and sharing your experience. I have had the dragging period feeling too the last while but I know I had that on previous pregnancies so I wasn't too concerned.

I'm on the way to the epu now so hopefully I'll know soon

I hope EPU have some good news for you.

I know that it's possible to have a 'bloody show' quite early in pregnancy and for the mucous plug to re-form, I haven't experienced it, but I've read about it happening.

I wish you all the best.

I'm 14 weeks and been spotting on and off to varying degrees throughout so far. I did a little with DC1 too. The worst it's been was bright red lke the start of a period. I put it down to one or a combo of: thrush/cervical changes/extra blood volume meaning capillaries can burst/my generally crappy vagina, rather than anything to do with the womb.

Can you get a scan? I had private scans at 7 and 8 weeks and midwife referred me to EPU at 9 weeks. All fine, 12 week scan fine too. When I had DC1, that EPU was walk-in, maybe yours is?

It's common to bleed in early pregnancy, many women even have a Subchorionic Haematoma. My friend has PCOS and bled heavily throughout her whole pregnancy, her kid is fine! :)

It's so hard not to worry though and I'd definitely talk to your midwife (if you have one yet, i couldn't book in til 9 weeks, ugh!)

Yes at around 10-11 weeks, had an early scan and it turned out to just be a small bleed, they didn't even know from where.

In this pregnancy my early symptoms came and went for days at a time, I'm 34 weeks now so it didn't mean anything. Actually in the pregnancy I miscarried symptoms were more consistent if anything! It doesn't mean anything so try not to worry. After seeing a heartbeat at 10 weeks your odds of a continuing pregnancy are something like 90%

I had three bleeds during my pregnancy, never found out why but my daughter (18 days old) is currently asleep on me so don't give up hope or assume the worst xx

How did it turn out for you? I know this is old but knowing the outcome would help me a lot right now
