Has anyone ever accidentally popped a balloon on their stomach when pregnant or is it just me?...

Firstly, waves to people who know me 😂 I can't imagine there is more than one person this has happened to!

I am 17 weeks today, and on friday, I held a balloon against my stomach and popped it. Just to briefly explain why...I deliver mental health training as part of my job and it was part of an activity we do. Ive done it a million times and always hold the balloon against my stomach to keep it secure before popping it.

Never done it whilst pregnant thought. So i popped it and it hurt a little bit, just on the skin. As soon as I did it I was horrified, i just did it automatically without thinking.

Ive been reassured by my family (hi again if you're reading) and my husband (doubt he's reading but I did catch him on netmums once) that this really is fine and the baby would barely have heard anything or felt anything because he or she is so well protected.

I supposed I'm just posting for extra reassurance, and maybe if on the off chance this has happened to someone else!

Baby will definitely be fine. I've never popped a balloon on my stomach whilst pregnant but did sit right next to the marching band when I was about 28 weeks pregnant. It was floor shakingly loud and I was literally right next to it. Baby was flipping about but was absolutely fine. It went on for a good 45 minutes too so much longer than one pop of a balloon.
They really and truly are well cushioned and protected in there.

Thank you so much sprogletsmum Smile thats exactly what my family have been saying, I'm just such a worrier.

You know when you do something and then just think, what on earth possessed me to do that!

I think you are worrying over nothing, not to minimise, I understand the stress of things like that when you are pregnant! I tripped and fell very heavily on my side when I was about 32 weeks and everything was fine baby gave me a disgruntled kicking and violent shift in position almost immediately , I was crying for hours and every time baby kicked it was setting me off again! If you are worried call your midwife for reassurance but honestly I think baby will be fine.
