Pregnant after miscarriage.

Hi mum's.....

I had a early miscarriage on 9th March. Well on Monday last week I found out I was pregnant again. So guessing I'm around 4 weeks pregnant.
Just wondering what other people's stories are, as I'm so petrified of loosing this one again. I feel more confident this time as o have tons of symptoms now that I didn't have before. I have 2 children already and never experienced this many symptoms this early on, from bloating, backache, headaches, extremely sore boobs, peeing all the time and this morn I woke up to leaking boobs! Is this all normal this early? Again sound amateurish but I didn't experience any of this till at least 10 weeks plus with my other two.
Also I haven't been to the gp yet as wanna give it a while incase I loose this one again. But do they do any other checks because of what happened last time? Or keep closer eye on you?
And will they still calculate my dates based on when I started bleeding with miscarriage?

Any advice would be great thanks ☺

I'm sorry for your loss, and congratulations on your pregnancy Smile

They'll date it counting the early mc as if it was a period. So count the day you started bleeding as cycle day 1. Tell them at your booking appointment what happened but it won't have any impact on this pregnancy or your care at all. If you're feeling jittery I'd self refer to your EPU if you can - it varies by area. But in mine, you don't see the GP at all, just self refer to the EPU by emailing them a form and then they invite you to an appointment. You can contact them from 6 weeks I think and they'll see you soon after for booking appointment.

Did you tell your GP about your mc? If so, you might be able to get a reassurance scan early but it sounds like you're very much pregnant with good strong symptoms, so it sounds positive!

Thanks for your response ☺
I didn't have chance to tell my gp last time as I found out one day and the next day started bleeding so was a rough couple of days. I rang the gp saying was bleeding and they got the epu to ring me and I went there for blood test and came back very low hg so they said I was miscarrying.
When I've been gp before to confirm the pregnancy they don't even test anymore as they said the ones shop sell are more accurate anyway. But I feel I jist need some reassurance or confirmation that it's actually happening and everything looks fine so hoped they'd scan a little earlier or anything to prove there is something there. I've used like 10+ tests already as just so anxious.
But guess they prob won't do much to help and just a waiting game.

It's good you told the GP the MC was happening as it'll be on your file. I'd call them up and say you're pregnant again and finding it quite stressful as you had your loss so recently so are they happy to refer you to the EPU early. No point scanning before around 6 weeks I don't think, it would be good to see a hb if you can. But get in the system soonish then see how they can help.

There's a pregnant after miscarriage thread knocking around here somewhere, so I'd have a look for that and you'll be in kind understanding company and people with good advice.

This happened to me and I'm currently 39 weeks pregnant! I definitely know how you're feeling, I was continuously worried and constantly symptom spotting for the entire first trimester. I did express my worries to my midwife and had two early scans (4 weeks and 6 weeks) which definitely eased my worries — although I think she obliged more to the scans to check my dates as I didn't have a period inbetween my MC and new pregnancy either (they wanted to check it actually was a new pregnancy). Just talk to your MW/doctor if you're feeling anxious, best of luck to you!Flowers

Hi thanks for your response. I haven't seen a gp or even a midwife yet as by my dates I started bleeding (miscarrying) on 9th March so I'm only 4 weeks plus 5 days I think altho I took a clear blue and it said pregnant 2-3 on Saturday just gone so think only about 4 weeks 3 days. I plan to go to the docs next week if I can get in as so hard to get an appointment now. My partner isn't off work till next week and he wants to come with me so will tell them I'm worried etc and see what they say. It's defo a new pregnancy as I lost the baby at 4 weeks last time so very early and was told to take a test a week after the bleed to see if it had passed and it said negative which they know about. But hopefully they can do something to ease my worry. I know my kiddicare store do early scans from 6 weeks so debating paying the £90 just to check everything is OK but then if they can't see anything as it's too early it will make me worry even more.

Hi
I had 2 mc @ 7 wks and one like you at 4 wks. GP only referred me once I had 3 in a row not even after 2... So I was referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic for tests. tests and follow up took nearly 3/months and we had to stop ttc in that time which was upsetting.... In the end everything was normal so we cracked on with ttc again and now I'm happy to say I'm 31weeks with a straightforward pregnancy 😀....Because I was seen at the clinic they tell you to call them as soon as you're pregnancy again and they did scans at 5 wks and 9 wks as well as repeating some blood tests. At 5 wks there was a heart beat and the size was normal, so sometimes they can see something at that point but it was an internal (dildo cam!) Scan not an external one... So if going private make sure it's somewhere offering both internal and external scans and be prepared to have the dildo camera if you're so early

Good luck, keep us informed how you get one xxx

Hi I've spoken to my partner about it and he's also worried about it going wrong as well, so we've decided to book in a private scan when my dates say I'm 8 weeks, which is 3 weeks tomorrow. Seems like a lifetime away! Wanna wait till then as hopefully something will be seen mainly a heartbeat.
I will also speak to my gp next week about my concerns to see if the NHS will do one but I don't hold out much hope as they are kinda useless with this stuff is seems!
I'm glad everything worked out for you in the end ☺ congrats.

Both my sister and I got pregnant immediately after early miscarriage (at the time we'd seen articles which recommended trying soon as hormone levels so high), both girls are 5 now (4 months apart).

I found that being pregnant and taking some control over my fertility again meant the miscarriage became a footnote in my history rather than all-consuming, which it would've been had I only had that to focus on and grieve about.

My sister is a midwife, and I did lots of 'research' on the Internet and the only reasons I've ever heard for not getting pregnant straight away is the dating; someone might correct me but I don't think the pregnancy will be any more vulnerable for being close to a miscarriage.

I wish you all the luck in the world

Just re-read your thread and see you have two children-my mc was my third pregnancy (two healthy boys for pregnancies 1&2), then 4th pregnancy was a healthy girl.

I had a MC at 11 weeks and then got pregnant a few months afterwards - I now have a 10 month old. When I was pregnant after my MC I spoke to my GP and said I was worried about something going wrong and didn't want to find out at the 12 week scan - he referred me to the local EPU and they did an earlier scan. So it is worth speaking to your GP as they may do an additional scan due to your recent MC.

Thanks for responses ☺
I rang my early pregnancy unit with concerns as was having pains so I panicked. They gave me blood test yday to check my hcg levels and came back at 22000 so they've scanned me today. Confirmed I'm 5 weeks 6 days and saw a heartbeat ☺ so happy that everything is OK at the moment.
Is.it normal for my levels to be this high as everything I've read no one had it this high.

Hi Mummy93 congratulations on your pregnancy news. I too started bleeding on 9th March at almost 7 weeks pregnant. Miscarriage confirmed on 12th but I had retained products and only had surgery last week 10th April) so it's been a long process. Just found out today my hcg is 25 and I have been discharged from epu. Really hoping to get pregnant again soon! So nice to read about people getting pregnant before having AF!
