Using sex toys during pregnancy

Just a quick question, because I've been told different things by different people...

Are sex toys safe to use during pregnancy? DSis says no way, but my best friend, who is a nurse, is adamant that there is no reason not to, as long as they're cleaned properly etc. I'm too embarrassed to ask my midwife!

You put fingers and penis in and around a vagina during sex and so don't really see how that's any different to using sex toys in that area... Unless you've been told "no sex" then I'd say enjoy yourself x
