Pregnancy

Can't tell if I'm setting myself or if it's my waters

Just that really. I'm so fed up. Constant trickle doesn't smell like wee, doesn't seem to be coming from the same place wee does, but then I do go and fecking wee and i think I may be imagining it all. Hmm
Accompanied by crappy braxton hicks and I've really had enough of my body and this pregnancy. Is my bladder really that bad and my vagina really that huge that I'm setting myself and just can't work out where it's coming from?!
I'm 34+5 and actually can't get to the maternity hospital until at least the mor information so there isn't much i can do. I'm going to attempt to get back to sleep.

Can I suggest putting s pad on to see how it smells and looks?

If it doesn't smell like wee or have that slightly unpleasant smell that normally goes with discharge, it could be amniotic fluid (which I am told has a slightly sweet smell).

I had trickling like this and was checked and it was fine. They said if I felt any little gushes rather than trickles of liquid I should go back again.

If you're at all unsure in the morning, go and get checked.

I have :) it's clear and smells...I'm not really sure! Sweet I guess, it's an odd smell, i cant felt put my finger on it. But it doesn't smell like urine.
I've also done the lie down and stand up after 30 minutes test and there was a small trickle after i did that.

How many weeks are you? You will have been given a 24-hour number to ring to speak to a midwife. I think that might be a good idea.

I'd call again.

Amniotic fluid smells a lot like semen.

Pop a pad on and see how the colour is - pinkish and clear is what amniotic fluid looks like.

My midwives asked me to bring my pads in, so they could check (boak). They can test for amniotic fluid leaks too.

At 34wk, I'd be on the phone now to get a spot to see someone first thing, in your shoes.

Good luck

Yup amniotic fluid smells like semen. It's true. Hope it's not amniotic fluid though!!

Sorry i was pissed off and irrationally annoyed last night. Probably didn't give enough detail. It's very complicated.
DC3 was born without water, this time I'm being monitored closely and have suspected I've been leaking since 24 weeks. However there's still enough fluid around the baby. I have another scan on Tuesday and i was in on Thursday and there was plenty of water.
I'm having intermittent trickles, i lost alot last night, but this morning its calmed down and I'm back to a 'normal' loss for me.
I've been in a couple of times and the midwives have just said it's urine, when the scans show it's actually my fluid. I hate going in just to be told I'm wetting myself, seeing a random on all consultant who says similar, when my consultant believes the same as i do. For some reason I'm having a very slow leak.
Anyway, sorry i was rambling last night as dh was fast asleep Blush i might give a call this morning, but it might be best to wait till my consultant and scan on Tuesday.

Just go in and get checked. It matters not a jot if you puss anyone off. You believe you are leaking, as does your consultant.

You are your child's advocate so go in and do what is best for your baby. Trust yourself.

I just phoned, they said it's probably discharge or urine. Confused i really do give up! I explained that my waters had been reducing on the scans and she said "it would be a non stop trickle, not a stop and start thing, it can't be your waters" Hmm they've said that i should call back if my pad is soaking wringing wet, if it's not it won't be my waters...Because they can tell that over the phone. I'm so fed up of it all.
I have a scan and consultant on Tuesday anyway so i will wait and see what she says.

The same happened with my son, when i was in labour they couldn't break my waters, they said the bag must be really tough, then he was born and there was no gush, no fluid, no nothing. But still they insist (even though it's exactly the same) that I'm just wetting myself as i don't fit their normal.

U really feel for you. I had this with my 3rd at 34 weeks. They kept saying i was weeing myself but i wasnt .. exactly same as you small leaks.

I ended up getting an unfection so was induced a couple of days later and baby had pnemonia.

She is now 6 but i was so fed up with it at the time

When i then went onto have another baby exactly the same thing happened again this time i wouldnt leave until i got a scan and they saod fluid was reduced so was given antibiotics

This is the thing, my fluid is reduced but still "within normal limits" I'm hoping on Tuesday my consultant will put a proper plan in place. Dh has said that if this one is born without water he'll be making a huge complaint. I'm just sick of being so wet and feeling like I'm wetting myself when I walk.

Er, waters totally CAN be a stop/start kind of thing! Mine went at 37 weeks with ds, but only little by little at first. That because his head was plugging the flow, but if I moved - stood up from lying down for example, or rolled over - his head would briefly move letting a little gush escape, before plugging it back up again!

CheesyWeez · 18/03/2017 19:19

Epoxy I had something similar, a little gush from time to time that stopped when the baby's head plugged it up again. The amniotic fluid was clear and felt kind of slippery/slightly soapy compared to urine. OP If you think it's amniotic fluid then it probably is, and you should be listened to. Good luck OP!
