Consultant Led Forever?

Hi,
Just looking for advice or experiences from others who have been consultant led. I'm pregnant with my 2nd. 1st pregnancy was problem free and the birth went ridiculously smoothly until I had a 3rd degree tear and had to have surgery. The surgeon told me it was borderline 3rd degree in the end but the stitching was really good and I've had no problems at all since. Anyway the midwife has referred me to a consultant for this pregnancy. I really didn't want to be under a dr and was hoping to go to a midwifery unit like I did with my first. Has anyone been referred to a consultant then discharged straight away? I know it's what's best for baby first and foremost but I can't see why I would need consultant led care really.
Thanks and sorry for the long post!

It tends to be automatic that if you tick a box on the booking proforma then you will be referred to the consultant. They then do their own assessment of you and your obstetric history and quite often in cSes like this they just refer you back to midwifery led care. Sometimes with things like a previous bad tear they get you in again towards the end of your pregnancy for a chat about options but in all likelihood if you have no current problems it shouldn't have an impact on your care.

Brilliant thank you. Hopefully that will be how it goes!

Yep, I was consultant led for my first (problems with baby) so immediately referred to consultant for second. He was fine so I was sent back to midwife led care after one appointment with the dr.

I was referred due to being old and fat. I was immediately discharged back to mw led when they realised I was still in quite good nick.

Of course at 26 weeks I tested positive for gestational diabetes, so had to go back to the consultants, and ended up with a c-section anyhow as dd was breech.

i was consultant led up until 36 weeks, I was then signed back to midwife care and they decided that I was signed off as low risk by the midwife, so I was able to go on the birthing unit. Hope that helps

I was consultant led with my first until 40+ weeks, then put back to midwives 3 days before going into labour... So got to go to midwife until to give birth.

I saw a consultant at 12 weeks scan, because i'm 41 and first baby. I haven't needed to see them since, as they're happy with how baby and I are progressing.
