They say faster is girly .. mine was 165 at 12 week scan then 145 at 16 week appointment.. confirmed it's a little girl .. my first girl was also around the 145+ mark but I'm not sure how reliable it is x

Yeah I mean my sister had a girl .. high heart rate .. my 3 friends all had boys and they were slower so I guess it could be.. I was convinced I was having a boy my nub theory was all boy cravings etc and she's a girl!! So I guess they like yo keep us on our toes Wink congratulations by the way x

I would of said a girl as my firsts heart beat was always above 140.... However my second was always under 140 and my gut feeling was that it was a boy! I was wrong I had a girl!

How exciting blondes. Feel quite sad I'll never have that first special cuddle with a newborn again

The day before my DC was born, I had a CTG and the consultant declared that I was having a girl because of the heart rate (I chose not to find out). He was, and still is, very much a boy. It's rubbish.

similar rate here & expecting a girl

My midwife thought that the heart rate thing was reasonably accurate but only measuring the heart rate of baby when you're in labour

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/03/2017 23:21

I was told heart rate in early weeks was an indication

Galloping horse a girl

Slower as a chuffing train a boy

As preg gets on in weeks heart does slow down a bit so harder to tell

I was in hospital for the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy with ds and was monitored every day. Some days it was 150 and when he was lazy nearer 125.
All the other mtb seem to have a variety of heartbeats but we all had boys

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 03/03/2017 23:29

They definitely say faster is girl. Heartbeat was constantly over 160 and yet I ignored all the old wives tales and insisted I was having a boy.

Nope, out pops DD Grin it'd be interesting to know if there's any scientific basis behind the theory.

Thankyou Thankyou for all your replies, yeh I'd love to know it there is any real proof.
From what I have read though a fast heartbeat seems to sway to the girlie side loads is tellling me im having a boy I feel it but it so different to my first boy this pregnancy anyway I posted my scan and now this and everyone says girl haha we will see.... in 16 weeks today and that was the heartbeat she says it goes slower the more weeks go by xx

Mine was 129bpm at 16 weeks and I'm having a boy. Craved salty stuff and skin/hair is glowing. I think some old wives tales are true!

It's funny I'm expecting a girl and all I'm
Craving salty savoury food! Hardly any sickness and everyone says I'm glowing.. complete opposite with my first both girls! So weird I'm not buying pink until my 20 week scan confirms she's a girl again 😂 X

I was totally convinced I was having a boy based on 'his' slow head rate. I was a bit shocked when a girl popped out Grin. So it's not always true that slow = boy and fast = girl.

Midwife at most recent appointment said to me she'd guess girl based on HR. As did midwife at 16 week check. But scans have confirmed boy! All other signs said boy (e.g. No sickness, craving carbs etc) just his heart rate was different!
