Stretch and sweep prior to due date.

I'll be 37 weeks on Monday, consultant led care due to pre-eclampsia in previous pregnancy. Feeling miserable with pelvic girdle pain and pre-eclampsia symptoms but stable blood pressure. Saw my Consultant this morning, who said I could have stretch and sweeps done by midwife from 37 weeks to try to bring on labour, but she doesn't want to induce or other interventions.
Has anyone had a stretch and sweep done before due date? I can't imagine it working...

Didn't want to read and run I didnt get a sweep early I was 40+3 when I got it and still ended up being induced. Hopefully something starts happening for you soon. Im now 38 weeks with my second and praying everyday something will happen as im also trying to entertain a 15month old too Flowers

I had sweeps at 39weeks with both my children. And I had them both at 39+3, which may be coincidence but I think it helped things along

Thanks for your replies.
My gut is saying not to go for a sweep early, despite how much I want to get things moving!
Wish I could do the old wives tales to bring on labour (walking, sex, spicy food etc) but I can't!

I'm 39+5 now, they have attempted one at 39 weeks and one yesterday. Both times they've said my cervix is closed, long and thick. My midwife wasn't that happy about doing the early sweeps, she thought they were a waste of time

I had a sweep at 41 weeks but it didn't work

However I asked on here recently about sweeps and there were loads of replies of women who went into labour within 24 hours of their sweeps

NotAQueef · 25/02/2017 16:46

I had 3 or 4 sweeps first one at 39w .... She came at 42w
The one at 39w was a failure as she couldn't even reach my cervix as it was still too high. I would wait for every person for whom the old wives' tales 'worked' for, there will be countless others that tried them all to no avail

I had one at 38+5, another at 39+3. Neither worked and I was induced by pessary at 39+5

I had a sweep at 38 weeks and had baby two days later
