5mg folic acide after 12 weeks

Hello,

probably a really stupid question so apologies.

My consultant said i could stop taking this at 12 weeks which I took to mean I could but didn't have to, and so i've just continued with my 5mg folic acid and Vit D supplement. I paid for the prescription so figured I might as well finish the course.

Pregnancy paranoia has me today at 14 weeks and i'm wondering if there are any reasons why continuing with the higher dose could be a bad thing?

im 31 weeks and still take 5mg Folic acid.plus aspirin, this is because i have a higher BMI and its to reduce pre eclampsia i believe.

Also why are you paying for your prescriptions?

I took my multivitamin which included folic acid all the way through my pregnancy. My baby is now 10 weeks old and is perfectly healthy.

I asked my midwife of I could carry on taking my Pregnacare tablets that are meant for 1st trimester rather than buying the next stage box (I have two boxes as I forgot to pack the 1st box when I went away so I bought another). My midwife said of course I can, she said that it would be fine continuing the folic acid etc 😊 don't worry x

I am on 5mg folic acid also, Vit D and fish oil. Doctor said to keep taking them all the way up and Im only to stop folic acid once my baby days are over.
But I do have a mild form of Spina Bifida so that could be it also.
