I had a sweep with my 2nd but it didn't work.

I have a date for my current (3rd) baby booked and I wondered, for those of you who had a sweep that worked- how long after it did you give birth?

I had a sweep at 10 days overdue with my first. Midwife was very dismissive of my chances of going into labour but I had DS the very next day.

I was due on the Sunday. I'd been having contractions for 4 days (since the Tuesday), so 40+2. I had the sweep at 3pm on the Friday - 40+5. I went to the hospital Friday evening, was in the birth centre from 9pm. The midwife broke my waters at 3am. My lo was born at 6.58am on the Saturday morning, at 40+6.

I had a sweep at 2.30pm, started having contractions at 6.30pm, baby arrived at 1.30pm the next day!
Wasn't dilated at all when I had the sweep done but my cervix was soft!

Oh and baby was born on due date in the end, had early sweep because my blood pressure had been really high for 3 weeks! Went down as soon as baby was born!

With DS1 I had two attempted sweeps, neither could be done as cervix very posterior. I was induced.

With DS2 I had an attempted sweep at 40+5, the midwife couldn't do it as cervix was very posterior but was soft. Had another at 40+9, again she couldn't do it as cervix was very posterior but soft. That was at 2.30pm. Contractions started at 6pm and he was born at 2.40am that night.

I had a very good seeep at 11am when I was 40+10 and I had the baby at around midnight. I was determined not to be induced!

Had sweep at 2pm and she finally arrived at 6ish the next morning. Would have been a good few hours sooner but she was back to back and huge and labour didn't progress as quickly because she wasn't in the right place. No intervention needed just a bit extra waiting while trying to shift her off my poor spine!!
