Short video on the subject - seems to make sense.

OP posts:

So being that guy has never had morning sickness. Good for him. I'm sure its because of his Veganism.

What bollocks

I find condoms terribly good for this - is that what he's recommending?

It's really interesting. Although my cravings were McDonald's hamburgers in pregnancy lol.My aversions were scented toiletries and my beloved yankee candle collection.
Maybe I'm just a weird mutant woman Smile

I couldn't keep down filtered water (having regularly thrown up tap water). Or anything else for that matter. For ages. Was hospitalised. Nice.

It's not remotely interesting, it's a boring mansplainer.

I'm not going to take someone seriously who says that hyperemesis gravidarum is the technical term for pregnancy sickness. It's quite clear he hasn't a clue what he's talking about.

He's also incredibly flaky about the distinction between HG and morning sickness.

X-post with Actually at exactly the same time!

The OP is mansplaining as well, btw.

LOL, I was a committed vegetarian before this pregnancy. Meat is now the only thing I can eat that doesn't make me sick.

Report
twattymctwatterson · 14/02/2017 17:29

As someone who suffered from terrible HG for 5 months I can honestly say this is utter bollocks. The guy doesn't even know the difference between HG and morning sickness.

Oh good. If only I had had a man to explain to me how my body works back in the first trimester.... Hmm

Report
NerrSnerr · 14/02/2017 18:41

I'm a vegetarian. I am 31 weeks pregnant and have had HG for the past 22 weeks or so. He can fuck off. I may also be a bit grumpy

raviolidreaming · 14/02/2017 18:55

What a load of self-important bollocks. I can't even bring myself to watch it all - he's just making me angry. I didn't have morning sickness and my biggest food aversion has been avocado.

raviolidreaming · 14/02/2017 18:56

OP, what about this video seems to make sense?

Report
strawberrypenguin · 14/02/2017 18:59

Yeah of course. It's nothing at all to do with hormones and growing another person. How silly of us all!

If I had to be vegetarian on pregnancy I would probably have starved to death- in my worst sickness days I couldn't even stand the smell of fresh veg in the fridge, and certainly couldn't have eaten it!

Report
Catlady100 · 14/02/2017 19:07

I'm vegan. Was still sick. Cat

PamBagnallsGotACollage · 14/02/2017 19:08

Me too averagebear. The smell
Of cooking veg used to make me so sick.

This guy is a massive dick. Pretty sure it was the fact I was growing an actual human that made me want to vom.

i thought this was going to be a joke thread that said if you don't get pregnant you can avoid morning sickness.

And if it's ok I will keep it that way in my head.

Report
taytopotato · 14/02/2017 19:10

My vegan friend had hyperemesis until 16 weeks.

And this whole thing about animals not getting morning sickness ... cats are omniate carnivores- they should only eat meat. They don't get sick when pregnant because, dunno, some other reason unrelated to have meat in their diets.

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 14/02/2017 19:43

Don't pandas look off colour and unwell when they are pregnant? Don't they only eat bamboo?

What a plonker. Wish he'd been around for my first pregnancy, I'd have made sure I vomited a bit of bile over him Angry We live in times when any idiot can publish whatever rubbish goes through their minds

It has already been said upthread, the only thing that works is condoms Grin

I wake up in the morning and im sick instantly before I touch any food so being vegan would make no difference
