Admitted to hospital with placenta previa

I'm 36 weeks pregnant. At my 20 week scan they said my placenta was low lying but would likely move.

Then last week at 35+2 I had a random painless bleed. They admitted me for two nights, let me go home until I had a follow up internal scan, then decided to admit me until an elective c-section at 38 weeks. It's not actually covering my cervix but is close.

I've had no further bleeding but they want to be cautious.

I just wondered whether anyone else is holed up in a hospital room at the moment with similar? I'm here for 2 weeks.

I must admit I've been incredibly mardy and homesick about it all, I just want my house!

I'm not in hospital, just turned 34 weeks pregnant and playing the waiting game at home. You must be sooo bored Flowers

Are you in your own room? Have you got tablet/kindle/books/knitting? Snacks? Visitors lined up?

I'd try to see the bright side as much as possible, you are in absolutely the right place if anything happens and try to get some rest before little one arrives.

I am trying thank you :) Yes I have a side room which I'm grateful for.

I'm just a real home bird so the thought of being away from home for 2 weeks and then walking back in with a baby wrecked my emotions!

Last night I had a stomach bug so my homesickness rapidly turned into real sickness... Envy

I'm in hospital too, but with preeclampsia. I've been here for just over 2 weeks and could potentially be here for another 6. Getting a bit of cabin fever and miss my DH and kids.

Poor you. Dd is 11 now but, like you I was admitted a couple of weeks early and then had c-section at 38 wks. I was so bored and missed my elder dd who was 4 SO much.

TMI/pooh alert here though.....

There was so little food on offer and it was so unappetising that I stopped putting on weight. Make sure someone is bringing you fruit/prune juice and maybe even Senokot. You are not getting much fibre from hospital food and when you combine that with the drugs for the c-section, you can get v constipated. My placenta previa was fine, c-section was very positive experience, baby well, first pooh was about 5 days later and was scary as didn't want to push due to wound. NCT classes which I had not needed for the birth did actually come in handy as I had to birth that pooh! Sorry for gross detail but it is the one thing I wish I had known. Get munching that roughage.

Good luck. Hope all goes well.

Thank you for the positive story and poo advice MonkeyFace!

Birdling that well and truly sucks. Poor you. It doesn't matter how many times people say "You're in the right place" it's just miserable and lonely isn't it?
