Well I had my first at 40 and am trying to conceive again at 42. I'm one mmc down so far.

So no, you're not too old, but personally I think you'd be mad to go back to sleepless nights, childcare costs, and nappies after a ten year break.

If you did conceive, and it went ok, would you then feel bad that your youngest would be unlikely to have any siblings near to them in age (unless you fancied doing it again at 45). Your other kids will be leaving home soon enough and the youngest will be more like an only child.

My mum had a 16 & 17 year age gap between me and my half sister and brother, and although I get on ok with my brother (my sister resented me from the word go) I wouldn't say it was the same sibling relationship as if we'd grown up together. I felt very out on my own.

If you want to, go for it!

You've done it all before, it's like falling off a bike! The NHS advice changes, but baby's have always been the same.

Also, you've done this before, you know what your letting yourself in for.

39 and pregnant with third (unplanned!) baby. Ten year gap between baby and youngest DD. Husband will be 56 this year.
If you want one, go for it.

I was 17 when DM had my youngest sister and I've a sister 6 years younger and twin sisters 13 years younger. DM always says she has enjoyed parenting more with the younger Ines because she was young having me so constantly felt she was so busy trying to prove the doubters wrong that she didn't actually stop to just enjoy it. Also she feels she is much more relaxed with the younger Ines and doesn't getting stressed out as much (I can vouch for that, much less stricter with sisters Grin)
I have an amazing relationship with my younger sisters also, which DM originally worried about because of large age difference, also you've got ready built in babysitters haha.

No your aren't too old. Also, a ten year age gap doesn't mean the kids won't be close. My husband is 10 and 12 years older than his younger siblings and is very close to them (they aren't half siblings though but full). He speaks to them via whatsapp constantly and they see each other every couple of weeks sometimes more often. I know siblings who are the same age and can't stand each other so its really sods law. I would just do what you want as the sibling thing is pot luck anyway.
