Dating scan and NT questions

Hi everyone! Just wanted to get some other experiences to reassure myself really.

I had my dating scan on Monday and I'd been charting my temperatures and taking ovulation tests so I was pretty sure I was about 12weeks and 2 days. At my dating scan she said I was actually 13 weeks and 1 day which doesn't really work with my dates! Could the baby just be large at this stage? Or do they all grow at the same rate? My first baby was 10lb 10oz at birth so I am expecting another big baby!
Secondly, the NT result was 2.8mm which I had thought was quite high as my first baby was 1.something.
I had the blood test and the midwife said I'd hear by Friday if we were high risk for anything so I assume I'm not. But now I've convinced myself they could still call Monday! I'm a real worrier and since I'm 34 I guess I know I just have more chance of a chromosomal abnormality so it's played on my mind.
Thanks in advance for any of your experiences! Grin

I went for my 12 week scan and was dated at 13 weeks, I actually popped on July original due date, so presume my DD was just bigger for her gestation at the first scan, I know the earliest date for conception as it was a contraception error and their date would have put me at five days earlier.

Re: nuchal fold, I can't answer that, can't remember what my DD's was, but am 35 and all was ok if that helps any

*on original due date... No idea where July came from

My babies have always measure 13 +was at the 12wk scan and I know I have been 12ish wks. I too have big babies but not as big as you lol. 2.8 is fine I think it's over 3 or 3.5 they worry

I think they're supposed to all grow at the same rate, but there's error in their measurements that could put you out by a few days easily.

If you had the screening on Monday, you definitely would've heard by now if you were high risk.

If it's any reassurance, I had a high risk result - had the screening at lunchtime on Thurs and they'd called by lunchtime on Monday. The hospital doesn't do the screening either, it's sent away to a larger one.

The scan dates are based on averages. I found this useful when my scan was measuring a lot smaller than my dates and I was worried:

(Forgive me, I have no idea how to do a link).

There is a chart saying how big the foetus measures, the average date and the 5th and 95th percentiles. Around 12-13 weeks it looks like the range is 5/6 days either side, so you just have a big baby!

They moved me forward 8 days at my dating scan to 13+2 when I know 100% when conception was and should have been 12+1. I'm not too worried though and to be honest was quite happy to lose a week! I think like others have said it's an average based on babies size roughly and can be slight errors in their measurements. At that stage baby it still so small that a few mm make a big difference and I saw her take quite a few tries on mine as baby kept stretching out and then curling up more. I had my 20 week scan yesterday and baby is now slightly on the smaller end of all the measurements so I think probably actually back to where he should be for a week younger:).

Thank you all so much for your experiences!
I am going to stop thinking about the NT results now until I get my letter!
I was expecting another big baby so can't be too surprised. I'm wondering just how big this one will be! My daughter was really long and is just really solid. She is still heavy to pick up now at three years old. I Can pick up my friend's daughter really easily and they look the same size!
Think her little brother or sister will break the record....I've been given the opportunity for an elective section so might have to consider that! 😂
