Hi there,

My partner is currently 18 weeks gone, we have had the 12 week scan and the tests etc everything has come back normal and they have said its all good.

Went to the midwife last week to hear the babies heartbeat and again everything was fine.

But today we get home and check the post and find that we have been booked in again for 3 more scans (other then the 20 week one)

1 in november, and 2 in december, for a US Obestric Foetal Growth routine.

We are now both panicking as why would there be so many scans, when no one has said theres anything to worry about and everything is healthy

I would suggest your partner gives her midwife a call to ask. It might just be an administrative error if nobody has said anything to you previously. 18 weeks seems very early to be referred for growth scans. I think it's normally much later in pregnancy. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but needs to be got to the bottom of!

I agree it may be an error. Especially if no one had said anything.
Get you DP to ring her midwife, or the hospital you are under.
I have been referred for growth scans already (18 weeks today) as I've had previous problems so I know why and have been talked through it all at 12 weeks. X

Is this her first pg? I had growth scans with my DS due to my DD being a small birth weight. It should have been discussed with you at your booking in appointment so it's very strange that at 18weeks this is the first of you knowing. I would definitely speak to your midwife.

Some people will be referred for regular growth scans due to things like low or high BMI, previous small baby, diabetes or something.

I saw the consultant at 18w. He seemed happy all was ok but I've been booked in for 28w and 34w growth scans. The consultant didn't explain why he wanted them, but my bmi is 31 and he was the doctor who performed our fertility treatments, so perhaps it is caution as it has taken us so many years to conceive.

I had total 6 scans... and lots and lots midwife appointments ..in my first pregnancy.. and midfife suspected that baby is tiny ...and know similar for many women... .. I felt it is common when it is first baby

now with second baby 22 weeks... have rarely got 3 appointment of midwife ... and normal 2 scans... still 2 more to go

yes but doctor has discussed with us about it.. So make sure to ask midwife
