Did you have any symptoms leading up to your labour?

Hiya ladies!
I am currently 39W+2D and I am so ready to have my little bub in my arms now. Just wondering if any of you had any symptoms leading up to your labour with your first baby?
I cried this morning for 20 minutes just because I accidentally got porridge in my hair! Have been getting an occasional sharp pain in my bladder too. So not sure if they're anything to get excited about? Also how many weeks+days was your first babe born at?!

Get used to the porridge in the hair.

My LB was 5 days early. Night before I was sitting merrily eating a curry and had to run to loo and my bowels emptied. The day before I had regular sharp pains in my thighs (I'd had this before but not so regular). Hope your little one arrives soon xx

I was 41+2
No signs at all, my 2nd sweep done it for me though, my waters went the next day

With ds, my first I had no warning at all. He was due over Christmas and I was desperate for him to come a little bit early but was completely resigned to him being late as I didn't even get bh. First sign was my waters going in a Hollywood gush. He was born at 39+5.

Dd was completely different, 4 sodding weeks of strong bh, then stop start contractions, up all night with intermittent back pain....She was born at 40+5.

Well the six days of pre-labour was a bit of a giveaway! But prior to that nothing obvious really.

No symptoms as such just a serious urge to clean everything in the house including the walls. I was like a thing possessed! This happened with all three dc and went into labour the following day.

No sign or symptoms whatsoever the first indication I was about to go into labour was when my waters broke; contractions started within 15 minutes.

Yes to the emptying of the bowels but I had that the morning I went into labour. But the day before I just felt absolutely felt up like almost temporarily depressed, I felt like my body had just had enough basically, aching sore under carriage and just a feeling of heaviness. I went to bed at 7pm the night before I had my daughter and by 6.45pm the following evening she was tucked up in my arms Grin

When you start feeling like your baby will never come that's usually when they do! Good luck!

Had discharge for about a week before hand and a few twinges, was 41+3 and just starting to feel like it wouldn't happen - followed midwifes advice to have sex and sure enough woke up next morning with strong period pain and he was born 12 hours later :)

I lost my plug 5 days before my due date and had what I assume to be BH but in my back.

Then nothing for 15 days! Woke up having waves of period type pains and had a bloody show which somehow ended up on the outside of the toilet bowl!

DD was born 26 hours later. Smile

Yes!! I kept wanting to clean in the days leading up, but one night I could not sleep and not get comfortable at all! I had no pains though. The next morning I felt sick!! Very sick!!! I felt sick all day long and didn't want to eat. That night I was so tired and fell asleep. Woke up at 5am with a pain in my lower back and something gushing out!! That was the start lol

DS1 born 39+2. Plug came away. Slow 3 day labour water only broke just before was born.

DS2 born 37+4. No signs at all. Waters broke at 3am and a bit of mucus plug was seen. Think the the rest came out with water. He was born 19 hours later.

Period-like pain began on due date and bloody show early next morning, followed by two days of gradually increasing in intensity and frequency contractions. Born at 40+3.

Good luck with it all!

I lost some of the mucus plug in the days before. But otherwise for me it was just that contractions started while out shopping. DD was born at 41+3. You may have a while to wait! Good luck!

I feel your pain! I'm 40+2 and today has been awful.. I can't stop crying, so irritable, extreme fatigue, feel sick and clammy all the time plus got a terrible mucas cough so pee myself every time I cough( on my 4th pair of bottoms today 😁😂)Just about had enough today. Doesn't help that my partner isn't picking up in my crankiness and helping with my twins more or telling me to put feet up and just taking over the running of the day!

I'm in a fucking foul mood and really snappy and gobby apparently, I was with my best friend the day before I had all 4 of my children Blush

Report
RedCrab · 22/08/2016 10:11

Absolutely nothing before DS and he was induced (and took fucking forever to come too - 40 hours plus forceps!) Clearly was not ready to come out.

DD - a stomach virus type thing of vomiting and diarrhoea a week before. DH was away and MIL was staying with me and DS because I was so heavily pregnant (38 weeks). She came down in the morning to find me on the loo and vomiting into a bucket on my lap. No one else got it and I was fine within a few hours. I'd heard about the clearing out thing before labour but was worried DH was away. DD was born the day after he came home about four days later.
