Post natal check

I've got my 6-8 week post natal check with the GP tomorrow morning. What will it entail? Mainly, I had a 2nd degree tear and needed stitches, will he examine me to check they've healed okay? I'm wondering if I need to shave down there in the morning.

I don't know about checking your wound (i didn't have one) but mine was a brief chat and a pnd questionnaire. I think they checked BP and discusses contraception too.

My GP just asked if things felt ok down there, and focused mostly on DS during the appointment.

Nobody ever looked at my stitches after DC2. You can say no, as well, if you feel fine and don't want.

I had a cs...Nothing a few questions complete waste of time!

Mine didn't check stitches - I doubt they would unless you said you were concerned they were infected or not healed properly.
Either way, you don't need to shave for the GP's benefit. They have seen pubes before!

In my experience they ask a few questions about how you're doing and what your mood is like, have a feel of your uterus to check it's contracting back into place nicely, talk about contraception and my dr has always offered to check stitches if needs be. They don't push you for it though.

At mine they checked my stitches had dissolved and the wound had healed. You can refuse if you feel fine but for what it's worth it's best to check IMO.

At mine they asked about my stitches so worth having a look with a mirror first!

My GP focussed on DD, my mood and contraception!

No I wasn't physically checked either. I was asked if I had done the 'rumpy pumpy' yet. Mortified

Checked me and said all looked fine. Turned out it really wasn't and I needed surgery. A year later. Don't let them drop you after they have ticked the box of seeing you .

All was fine. Just asked about the stitched and as I said they were okay he left it at that. I know you don't have to shave for the GP but for my own sake if someone's going to have a look down there I'd like to feel like I've made an effort! A bit like shaving your legs if you're going swimming.

Anyway, he asked about contraception, PND, did my blood pressure and asked if I had any concerns and then checked DD over.
