Hi, i had a bleed on thurs (bright red) which lasted 12 hours i went to the emergency room and they done a scan, say 2 sacs ( 1 baby in 1 sac & 2 in the other sac) my midwife then arranged for another scan today in my local hosp.

They saw two sacs, 1 sac with baby & heartbeat and another sac with 1 baby & heartbeat & 1 yolk.

Im only measuring 6w&3days. I have to go back in a week for another scan. Anyone any experience, will i go back and see the 3rd heatbeat or just two? The midwife said it could develop into heartbeat or it may not

My goodness! Had you been having fertility treatment, do you have multiples in family, or was that a total shock?

I can imagine it's a hard, hard wait.

No fertility treatment at all, i have two sons already aged 6 & 1.

My cousins are twins but my aunt thinks it was triplets as she had a big bleed in early pregnancy. I just dont no if it will be three the next time im at the hospital

Katsite, i have only seen two heart beats in two different sacs, there is then a yolk inside a sac with a baby with heartbeat. Im just anxious and worried it wont be there when we go back.😢 Im not sure why they can see the yolk but no3rd baby

My scan at 6 weeks showed 2 sacs but 1 heartbeat. I had a small red bleed and went for another scan a couple of days later and I had 2 heartbeats. I had another scan at 8 weeks and sadly the delayed embryo hadn't made it past 7 weeks.
It was an ivf pregnancy and although I asked for 2 embryos to be put back, the thought of twins were so daunting but we got used to the idea and were sad when the smaller one didn't survive. We are now 27 weeks pregnant with the stronger twin and so far she is doing well.
Good luck and I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy x

I'm currently pregnant with non identical twins and don't have any experience with triplets. Just wanted to say fingers crossed and hopefully there will be a third heartbeat next week, it may just be a bit too early for one of them :-)

We were told the one without heartbeat would probably get "absorbed ". So it may or it may not. I am sure imaging is even better today than it was 10 years ago. Nevertheless, it is not an exact science.
Enjoy and take it easy!

Hi eveyone, i ended up having to get another scan today as i had a lot of cramping.

It turns out the 3rd yolk has vanished.
One baby is measuring 6w3 days and 1 measuring 7w 1day.

Im now stressing about vanishinh twin syndrome.

Has anyone any advice or reassurance.

Thanks xx

It sounds like you are having twins and it is great news that they both have heartbeats. My cousin had fraternal twins and there was 6 days growth between then in the early stages. I'm sorry that the third baby didn't continue to develop. Take your time to feel and process this however you need to. I hope you have an uneventful pregnancy from now on.

Sorry to hear about the third baby. So if I've read it right you now have two babies, two sacs, two placentas? DCDA twins :)

The fact you've seen both heartbeats is good and the fact theyre DCDA is good as they're less risky that babies who share a placenta (although still considered a high risk pregnancy).

My DCDA's had a days difference which we found out at the first scan I had, one was 12+5 and the other 12+6 and I remember the sonographer saying there's always a difference and sometimes it's as much as two weeks with no problems :)

My friend had a vanishing twin but there was never a heartbeat. Do you have another scan planned?

Hope everything else goes well now.
