Will I be induced?

Hi all,

I've just spent the last few days in hospital due to baby having a high heart rate and decreased movement, Thankfully everything is normal now.

However I had a bpp scan to check everything is ok and scored 10/10 - but the measurements showed baby to be 41 weeks, almost 9lb and on the 95th centille. I am going back on Monday when I will be 37 +1 to a day assessment unit for another scan and am worried they may induce me.

Is it normal to be induced for a large baby?

It's a possibility... in our local hospital if a woman presents with decreased fetal movements and is past 37 weeks they're offered induction within 48 hours anyway.
I think it will depend very much on the hospital and consultant.
Good luck!

I wouldn't worry about how big they say the baby is. My baby came out smaller than what my growth scan had said it was 3-4 weeks prior to baby being born. They are more likely to induce you for the reduced movement/heart rate. Whatever they do will be the best interest of you and the baby

You don't have to be induced if you don't want to be. Just weigh up what the doctors say and ask questions.

I was meant to be induced because baby was large but the earliest date they had was the day she needed up arriving. She was said to be 95th but turned up as a standard 7lb 7oz.

Also at that point I would have begged for induction if it had gone on any longer as those last week's seemed so long

NICE guidelines state if the only thing you are presenting with is a large baby and no other symptons then they advise against induction. I have just done loads of research into this to argue with my consultant who wanted me in at 40 weeks due to a big baby.

Thanks all for your replies, the best thing I can do is ask the midwife and consultants questions on Monday.

The babies heart rate at midwife appointment wad 175/180 but at the hospital it managed to go bsck to normal. Next day was up in 180s again and was admitted but after 2 days of monitoring it decreased to normal.

Movement has certainly increased and can feel kicks etc. It doesn't help that ny placenta is anterial (?} so disguises movement. Thr consultant doing the growth svan kept asking if I could feel movement when he saw the baby nove abd I was like no. Im such a bad mumny!!
