So having tested positive for an infection at midwife and at the time having no symptoms I am now being driven insane by an itchy and sore fanjo! I've never had thrush before but am pretty certain I have it now!!

I'm waiting on test results from doctors as midwife sent sample off but in all honesty I don't think I can wait that long! Is canesten safe to use in pregnancy? I saw the pessaries and cream combo in tesco but it said not to use it if pregnant or trying to get pregnant? But I've read online it's safe to use. I know I'll get it free from doctors but it could be Tuesday before I get an appointment based on results and a weekend of this is not my idea of fun. Is the cream safe to use just to ease the itching till I can go to the doctors?

Yours very uncomfortably
Fruity

You can use the pessary and creams (use finger to insert pessary) but don't use the oral tablet

I could have gotten it on prescription but bought the cream and pessary from tescos for £12, definitely worth it for prompt relief. Its totally safe to use in pregnancy, I got it on prescription last month. No one told me that it can be passed between you and your oh, and that he can be symptomless, so I have recently had it again. So I would buy your oh the tablet just to be sure, you can get it in the supermarket as well.

Thanks guys I will be tripping over to tesco this morning! I know I could get it free but 12 quid is a small price to pay for some light relief!

Hi hun,

I know the horrible itch of thrush in pregnancy...i am 5 weeks preg and since last week all i have had is thrush and cystitis its bloody horrible. I used a pessary and the cream and ive had to use it again cos it didnt move the itchiness and still after 2 uses im still itching :( apparently when your preg its harder to get rid of thrush and cystitis...make sure when u put the pessary in not to use the white thing use ur finger, i think it can upset the sack or something so dont go too far up either just push ur finger in half way x

It's really unpleasant isn't it! I've had a textbook pregnancy up until about week 28 when I had a uti and antibiotics. Then the dipstick practically glowed at 31 week appt. Am hoping I can get rid of this with canesten. Be handy to have some cream on standby I think. Best bit is I haven't even seen my fanjo for weeks lol!

Make sure you treat your partner too as they can pass it back to you.

I feel your pain (literally)

I've had thrush on and off all the way through this pregnancy, I'm 36 weeks now.

Canesten pesseries work for a week or two then it returns!

Natural yoghurt does help if you don't have anything else in.

I hope your fanjo is back to normal soon! Flowers
