Hi
Had a 4d scan at 28 weeks. Weight estimate was 4lb 2oz.....is this not quite big or to they tend not to be very accurate?! X

I don't think they are very accurate, apparently baby gains around half a pound a week in the third trimester so this would make your baby very big but I've heard they are unreliable. Did the sonographer not say anything re size or recommend any follow up action?

Thanks kaytee
The sonographer seemed pretty unaffected by it and said this was within "average" guidelines....

I wouldn't worry about it then if they aren't Smile I'm surprised they even told you the estimated weight tbh as it is very unreliable.

Actually I would mention it to your midwife.
This is only based on me having what seems likely to have been undiagnosed gest diabetes and ending up with a big baby. I had none of the 'risk factors'!

I don't want to scare or frighten you but I would ask for a glucose tolerance test!

I've just noticed that you said 4d scan so I'm assuming this was private? If so then defo mention to your midwife! Sorry for some reason I thought it was a growth scan you'd been sent for by your midwife.
