Ugh. 2nd time pregnant and still had the piles left over from last time but at least they were not causing me pain.

Now I've hit 35 weeks and I am IN PAIN!!! & im not even constipated..... How can this be?!

Help me! What can I do?!

This does not bode well for after delivery. I seem to remember it was horrific for a while.... Any tips??

Get some prescription strength pile cream from your GP. I'm hoping to avoid this as long as I can but I know it's inevitable. I had to go to the sore bottom doctor after #2 and have piles removed....it was worse than labour.

I feel your pain!

After each trip to the loo I soak a big wodge of cotton wool in distilled witch hazel and wedge it into the sore bits and leave for a couple of hours. Apologies for tmi but it seems to work much better than the cream for me. Good luck.

Thx for the tips ladies. Will see what I can get. Witch hazel will probably be easier to obtain than an appointment with my GP tho!!

I missed this post and posted pretty much the same! 32 weeks with second baby, never had them before, and suddenly they appear today! And I'm not constipated and haven't been straining.

I feel like crying I'm in so much pain!

oh missing, I am so sorry to hear you are feeling it too (altho secretly glad it is not just me on my own!!!)

am going to buy some witch hazel tomorrow and will follow up with the GP next week to get some industrial strength cream!

in the meantime my mum said her nurse friend recommended filling a latex glove with water and freezing it. am so desperate I have done just that...... but not sure what to do with it now!!!!!!! Blush

Feck cream. Get the suppositories.

Might I suggest inserting a frozen finger up the bum?!😂

MindfulBear · 21/05/2016 14:26

I know but .... Really?!! Will that work?!

It might provide immediate pain relief but you will need something to try and reduce swelling.

39+4 here and they have appeared the last week although not been painful since the first day I noticed then! Petrified about labour now though surely that's not going to help Blush

Thank you for the witch hazel tip. Will be trying that today. Stress incontinence at the front, achey piles at the back - feel so gross and I can't get properly clean despite using fistfuls of babywipes at every loo trip, bleugh (33+3)

Oh god I'm going to save this thread, I had horrendous ones after DD and they have already returned at 23 weeks although not painful at the moment.
I remember the midwife recommending some things for the bath, I'm sure it was eucalyptus and Epsom salts.

I feel your pain Sad

Suppositories are the way to go, believe me. The cream has nothing on them.

Report
cheapredwine · 22/05/2016 11:32

How do the suppositories get to the dangly bits though? Genuine question. Do you need to push them back in?

Report
GruffaloPants · 22/05/2016 19:23

The suppositories work internally so shrink everything back. You should be trying to push everything back in though, leaving it outside continues to impinge on the blood supply.

Wish I didn't know this! I guess you could use cream and suppositories together.

Which suppositories?

I used some last time & they were crap. Did nothing.....,

Thanks gruffulo I've been pushing them back in every time I've put Anusol on them but it's doing bugger all as far as I can tell. Are Germaloid suppositories the ones to go for?

Scheriproct suppositories get my vote. They saved me after DD1 was born (CS recovery was sound, it was the piles that made me feel utterly miserable).

I'm 28 weeks with DC2 and had to start iron last week. Waaaaaa! The poker-up-bum pain is back as of yesterdaySadBlush

I am finding senna working a treat to soften everything in view of the stupid bastarding iron but it seems the piles are making a come back despite this. I'll be heading for a round of suppositories very soon I suspect.

Anisotropic HC did the trick for me. They were prescribed, not sure if they are also over the counter.

Report
GruffaloPants · 22/05/2016 21:42

Anusol HC obv!

Report
cheapredwine · 22/05/2016 21:44

doc have you been prescribed the senna? Be careful if not, supposedly it can cause uterine contractions as well as bowel ones. Have you tried Movicol? Gentler and more predictable but effective and can buy OTC and safe in pregnancy.

Can you get the scheriproct OTC?

Doc my iron levels have plummeted and I was threatened with the evil red tablets but I said I'd try Spatone first - midwife agreed. Flippin expensive but it hasn't given me poo issues, hooray!

Still have piles, though. Grim. Going to investigate suppositories I think!
