Hello.
So I will be 17 week tomorrow & since Friday evening I have had a sore throat & full of cold & just feel totally shit!!
Went to the chemist yday to see if I coukd get anything. Pharmacist says just paracetamol...to be honest this isn't doing anything.
I'm a sweaty mess & just feel crap. My throat is really sore & my sickness isn't helping that!
DH brought me some honey & Lemon home & made me a hot honey & lemon drink afterwork. Is there anything else I can try?
Thank you xx

I'm down the cold and sore throat at the moment as well. And because I'm Canadian and we're generally paranoid when pregnant, no honey for me (lemon juice and honey being my go-to when my throat is sore). There's a syrup from Boots I was using (essentially, it's sugar and has no medicinal value at all, but it coats your throat). And Vicks. Lots of Vicks.

Sorry hun, but you're just going to feel like crap for a few days. Chicken soup, lots of fluids, and a good book to stave off the boredom.

There is absolutely no reason you can't have honey in pregnancy.

Get honey & lemon lockets. Dose yourself up on paracetamol. Plenty of hot drinks.

LittleBearPad, I agree with you about the honey, so long as it's pasteurized. In Canada, we're still warned off of unpasteurized honey (along with all the good cheeses, lunch/deli meat, etc). These things all very country to country, so if OP is happy taking honey, fantastic!

I'm 9+3 and only just slowly getting rid of my cold. Have been drinking hot water with lemon and honey, which has had limited effect. For my blocked nose, I made a saline solution and used that twice a day. It's helped massively.
The pharmacy wouldn't give me anything...not even Strepsils. Hmm

I have, however, also been off work for the past two days. I'm getting a lot of rest and sleep for most of the day.

Honey & Lemon has helped & just been taking paracetamol.
I didn't realise there was any issues with the honey Confused
