40 plus 6 days... can I talk about the gross Mucus Plug please

So I had a bath earlier about 5pm and since then had some very mild crampy pains and had some gross Discharge that I'm guessing is my mucus plug.

This is my second baby and I didn't lost my plug / waters didn't go last time so have no idea what this means. Could it still be ages? Just wondering whether to ship DS1 off now or not (while he's awake)?

Any thought or experiences?

Ooooh...I'd say that the plug by itself doesn't necessarily mean anything imminently. But added to mild cramps? I'd get childcare on standby, definitely!
Oooh, live labour thread! Keep us posted!Grin

You will most likely recognise your mucus plug - mine was a HUGE glut of snot-like substance. A lot of it.

Well it was like a really clear snot ball, 3 sizeable lumps like maybe as big as 1/4 of my first each time and dead gloopy. Not bloody or yellow or brown though?

I've text my sister who lives an hour away and my friend who lives down the road. I'm having a home birth so no imminent rush for him to go but in an emergency I'd rather he wasn't at home, just makes it easier for me to concentrate etc.

Will update, DH just got in with a curry though! #cliche!

I had a similar experience to you OP. 40 + 3 and had a bath followed by mucus plug! Cramps started straight away. I went to bed but woke up at 3.30 with contractions and baby was born later that day. Now 2 weeks old :-)
So it can mean things are going to happen soon - particularly if you are over due I suppose! fingers crossed for you x

Sounds pluggy.

Hope it all happens soon. Good luck :)

Bloody hell, wish I had a magic ball! Well DS is in bed and I'm going to enjoy this curry and just pretend I'm not desperate to get this baby out...

Whilst slyly blowing up the birth pool and telling myself and the pregnancy gods that it won't be tonight, not because I'm scared, but because if they think I think it's going to be tonight you know if wont be tonight; right? Confused

So...did the curry work? Bulletin please

How exciting! I fully inflated my birth pool in between contractions then realised I needed to deflate it in order to hide it from ds1 who would have been impossible to remove from the house if he got up and saw a paddling pool in the living room ConfusedHmmGrin.

Sorry forgot to update, has lots of cramps and back aches on and off but baby still in there! Had contractions (irregular) for 3 hours really thought it was going somewhere but nothing since. I've done lots of walking and even DTD but still there.

The main feeling now in intense stabbing in my vagina every now and again particularly if I sit at the dinner table! Joys! Currently 40+9
