Back Pain - 8 weeks - any ideas?

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and from around week four I've been suffering from really bad lower back pain. I had a MMC over Christmas, with that pregnancy I had the same lower back pain from around 4 weeks which disappeared when the miscarriage completed.

I have one other child and I had terrible back pain with him, but it wasn't until about 32 weeks, but it was the same pain in the same place.

I'm obviously not big enough to be having back pain from increased weight/baby, so does anyone know what could be causing this? I'm very fit and healthy and am now worrying that I could be having this for the full pregnancy (hoping this pregnancy is a successful one).

Possibly a urine infection? I would do a sample and take it to your doctors and ask for it to be dipped.
I've had 4 dc ( and 3 mc) and with two of my pregnancies I've really suffered with urine infections.

I don't think it is a urine infection, but certainly worth checking, I only have one kidney and have problems with it, so I'm fairly hot on kidney/urine issues. Seeing the midwife tomorrow for a booking in appointment so will ask for a sample pot.

I had really bad lower back pain from about 8 weeks until 20 weeks, am now 27 weeks and haven't had it at all. Midwife gave a number of potential reasons - trapped nerve, effect of ligament stretching etc. But couldn't give a reason - I was offered a physio appointment but didn't have it in the end.

Hiya, I was the same and physio told me it was a mechanical pain - which sounds like nothing but i mean i could barely bend, sit etc without being like an electrified cat.
i got one of them physio balls to roll about on and it does help after a few days.
physio also advised kind of hip tilt/thrusts to take the pressure off.

Thank you for the advice! I've seen the midwife now and she thinks it might be something relating to my first pregnancy and the relaxin hormone has re-triggered it. I had a long car journey yesterday and woke at 3am for the loo, I couldn't put any weight on my left leg and when I did I screamed in pain.

I have got horrendous ball pain this pregnancy which I'm blaming on back to back labour with dc1 + relaxin.
