sudafed?

Hi! Went on a short flight recently and the pressure that built in my ears during descent was horrendous. It was agony and I thought my ears were going to explode, honestly.

The flight attendant caught me after and said a similar thing happened to her, she'd seen my face! Suggested taking sudafed an hour before setting off.

I've got the return flight soon and really want to try something. Does anyone know if u can take sudafed when pregnant? I'm 14 weeks.

Thank you!!

No. Basically! Nothing like that is recommended in pregnancy.

Don't think its advisable. Suck sweets, take a tissue with eucalyptus or menthol to clear your airways? Or can you see a pharmacist or doctor where you are?

Unfortunately not. Sudafed contains an active ingredient that makes blood vessels constrict. There's a chance that, during pregnancy, it could make the blood vessels that supply the baby to also constrict. The risk is small but it means it can't be considered safe.

I thought not! Thank you! Will go to the pharmacy.

I ate sweets, did lots of swallowing/yawning etc. Didn't touch it. Maybe it's because I have a cold already?!

Colds really are hideous when your pregnant. Not much you can take for them. Steam inhalations with menthol crystals or olbas oil were the only real relief, I found. Sympathies. Hope pharmacist helps!
