Deep lump on stomach muscles? Hand hold...

Hi all, so I'm 5 months and I just randomly last night noticed I have a hard deep lump on my tummy muscles just a couple of inches below and to the left of my belly button. It's like a long thin pea sort of thing and almost feels like a bit of gristle. It's a little tender but I've got a feeling it's been there for a while (more tender today after me prodding it last night…). I've booked a docs appointment but couldn't get in for 10 days so just wanted some reassurance … please no horror stories I'm feeling emotional! It doesn't protrude the skin or anything and is deep so def not a spot or anything… it's just sitting on the muscle xxx

I haven't got any experience of this I'm afraid, but didn't want to read and run. Could you make an appointment with your midwife in the meantime? She might be able to reassure you whilst you're waiting to see the doc.

The only think I would say is that my body did all sorts of weird things when I was pregnant so it might well be nothing to worry about, but definitely worth getting checked out Flowers

Google dermatofibroma, I get these all over the place when pregnant. No idea why but I suspect it's hormonal. They are like little pea / ball bearing things under the skin and are apparently completely harmless. Mine took a long time to go after dd1 but now 24 weeks with dd2 and they're back!

Do see Dr or midwife just in case though, mine aren't particularly on the muscle as such, they can crop up anywhere.

Morning Coco, hope your ok. It could be a hernia? I have one at the moment. Lots of people get them in pregnancy. I hope you get some answers from your GP x

I had exactly this when pregnant with my first. Still have it 6 years later. According to my Obs/Gyn it's normal and no-one quite knows why it happens but likely to be due to stress on the abdominals. However, still get it checked out.

Did you ever get an answer for this? I am 5 months pregnant with exactly the same thing. My tummy muscles feel all lumpy and I’ve never had this in previous pregnancies
