Think I'm having a miscarriage

I'm 10 weeks pregnant - all was going fine but have started bleeding for the last couple of days - not heavy at all but definitely fresh blood, but no other symptoms such as cramping etc.

I'm going to try to get a scan next week but am I right in thinking this must be the start of a miscarriage? Has anyone had similar?

Hi, I've had 2 healthy babies and also 2 miscarriages (9 and 12 weeks). With all 4 pregnancies I've had a bleeding at various stages. Unfortunately until you have a scan there is no way of knowing for sure if it's bad news or if everything is just fine with baby.
Ring 111 and they'll hopefully be able to arrange you a scan at an EPU near you, but that will most likely be on Monday. Obviously if the bleeding gets lots heavier in the meantime go to A&E. I wish you lots of luck. Hopefully everything will be just fine.

Get in touch with your midwives. It could be something or nothing; I had bleeding at 9w and was referred to epu. Baby was fine. Bleeding again at 18w, they examined me and found a graze on my cervix with no idea how it got there!

They explained the the cervix is much softer when pregnant and blood vessels are closer to the surface.

But please, contact your midwife service - they should be working on a Sunday. Especially if it gets heavier or you begin to experience cramps.

In the meantime, try to relax, have a bath, read a book or watch friends reruns on tv.

Like bebo I've also had 2 healthy pregnancies and 2 miscarriages (6 weeks and 10 weeks). I also had bleeding in all of my pregnancies, the only way to know for sure is to get a scan.

Ring ooh's gp for the earliest possible referral to EPAU where you can be scanned although this is usually weekdays only.

In the meantime, try to relax Flowers

Thanks for the advice - I'll try and get a scan organised for Monday - but it's good to know that things might still be ok

Thanks so much for asking bebo and iloveberries - I couldn't get a scan until tomorrow so still don't know. However I'm still bleeding a lot so I've pretty much resigned myself to the worst - really think it's very unlikely that I haven't miscarried. Just really want to know for definite now!

What happened NTM? I had bleeding several times in my first pregnancy and all was fine each time, lots of red blood each time x

Sorry for that NTM12

It will be good to find out either way. I read lots about people bleeding and being fine and indeed it happened to a close friend of mine. However I don't mean to be negative but I think you're wise to prepare yourself just in case.
i REALLY feel for you. it is so cruel.

Thanks for everyone's messages and support. Had my scan today and they could only see an empty gestational sac - no embryo - so I've definitely miscarried as I should be about 11 weeks. It's v disappointing but I'm trying to be pragmatic - these things happen.

Hi I was just looking for some advice, I was due on the start of Feb, had a few negative tests first few days. Done a test Monday and it was a faint positive, done a clear blue digital tues but was negative then done first response on wed and it was faint positive again, I went to Drs early Thursday morning and they tried to refer me for a scan, I got home minutes later and started bleeding medium/heavy amount, I went to a and e, they took a sample and it come back negative and they said for this reason they can't do a scan. They didn't really give me a straight answer they said it could be a miscarriage, I could be pregnant still or it could be a late period? But that wouldn't explain the two faint positive tests? I'm still bleeding now and passed quite a large clot this morning. I was just wondering if any one has been in a similar situation and what the outcome was? I doubt I'm pregnant now but wondered if it is actually a miscarriage and how long it would roughly take to conceive again as I've been trying since July. Thanks X

NTM so sorry to hear your news. That is rubbish. Pragmatic is good if it works for you - that's how I try and handle things too but remember it's ok to feel sad. Just because "these things happen" doesn't make it any less painful for you. Hope you have some support xxxx take care

Rachel, I think you should start your own thread to ask for advice.
