Incontinence - tell me i'm not the only one!

I am 31 weeks pregnant with DC2, but I think my pelvic floor must still be ruined from DC1 (I keep promising myself that I'll do exercises but I never get around to it!). I have a bad cough at the moment and keep leaking. Not a huge amount but enough that I need to change my knickers (and sometimes trousers). Am making a special trip out in a bit to buy some incontinence pads Sad. Please tell me I'm not the only one!

You're not the only one. If I get out of bed without immeadiately going for a wee I leak while making a cuppa.
Classy

Not the only one . There are some great apps that remind you to do the exercises that really helped me.

Whilst I was pg with dc I got a bad cough which knackered my pelvic floor and took to wearing pads and making sure I never had a full bladder!

It's back to normal now and I can cough with confidence.

You're not the only one.

And I don't even have the excuse of having previous children.

First timer here and you are not alone! Really should do those exercises!

Thanks all! Smile

Buttercup - is there an app that you'd particularly recommend please?

Remember to clench before you cough. There's a good piece of kit called kegel8 tight and tone that I bought and my mid wife uses. Probably best after birth.

We did visualization exercises which were great. Better by 1000 than kegel apps.

1 Imagine you are zipping from vag to top of pubes and down again.
2 a wave going in and out of vag. Hold wave in before releasing.

  1. Elevator going up and down vag.

4 elevator going up and down bum.
5 flower opening inside and out of vag.
6 garage door rolling up and over up front of front bottom and down again slowly.

No slamming. Everything down slowly.

Tense before coughing and sneezing and blowing nose.

When doing deep breathing to breathe out too far.

I used kegel kat free and kegel counter. Both free from Google play . I triedclots out and these were the ones I preferred.

Ask for a referral to a women's health physio after you have the baby. They're great and it's REALLY important to work on those weak muscles both for the sake of your continence now, and in 20 years.

You're not alone. No problems in first pregnancy but needed the light Tena pads in second pregnancy. Back to normal straight away (DS2 is 3 months old) so I think it was just the pressure of pregnancy on my bladder. NB: I had two caesareans - not to save my pelvic floor but that may have been a silver lining!

I'm 24 wks with dc2; sneezing and coughing has become a game of knicker roulette. You are definitely not alone OP! I keep trying to remember to do them when I'm brushing my teeth or washing up.

I'm 33 weeks pregnant with my first and I always do my pelvic floor exercises even before I got pregnant, and guess what - they don't seem to work (for me anyway!) I got a bad cough recently for 3 weeks and I was basically incontinent. Its a lot better now the cough is gone but not 100%, especially if I sneeze. Add the incontinence to the hemorrhoids and..well, lets just say I've felt sexier...

I have the haemorrhoids too, struggled with HG until 20ish weeks, have spd and have swollen up like a bloated whale. I've never felt so glamorous Blush

I AM NEVER GETTING PREGNANT AGAIN!!!!

i'm 11 weeks and having a stinking cold and tickly cough... my pelvic floor is shot from DC1 so if i feel a cough coming i have to stop and cross my legs.
I find like with any muscles, its worse when i'm tired - so being in first trimester, with fatique, hormonal weeing, an unquenchable thirst and a tickly cough is just no fun - and very damp! You have my sympathy at 31 weeks when logistically stuff is pressing on your bladder too!
I always swear i will do my pelvic floors - i am clearly rubbish at them though! Need to step up this time!
Oh and i have haemorroids too - made worse by constipation and straining. ewwwwww.
11 weeks down, possibly 31 to go AGH!
