Hi I'm currently 8 weeks pregnant and just been diagnosed with cyclothymia (bipolar 111) I'm ment to be starting my medication next week (quetiapine ) I was wondering if anyone takes this while pregnant ? I don't want to harm my baby but also don't want to be 100 times worse than what I already am

This website has info about whether lots of medications are safe during pregnancy so maybe worth looking at: www.medicinesinpregnancy.org/Medicine--pregnancy/

I think the most important thing is that your doctor knows that you are pregnant so they can prescribe you medication that's safe for you and your baby.

My other suggestion would be to make sure you also ask the doctor as many questions as you want (maybe write a list before your appointment) about the suggested medication so you are happy that taking it is the right choice for you. Make sure you also ask them about the risks / benefits of taking this medication vs not taking any medication, or taking a different medication. There are often several different medicines that can be used to treat a particular illness so it might be that your doctor can suggest a different medication if you're concerned about whether the one they've suggested is safe.
