Pregnancy

Has anyone become pregnant straight after coming off the pill?

Just that, really. I recently found out I'm pregnant, stopped taking pill at the end of September and thought it would take a few months for it to happen. Would I base the date of my LMP on the date of my last bleed? That was 23rd September. I fainted on 5th October and thinking about it, I hadn't felt 'normal' since then. Would it be impossible for it to happen in such a short space of time?

For some it really can happen that quickly. I know people that have fallen pregnant just from missing a pill, if you had a bleed after coming off it then ovulated approx two weeks later then it just means your cyclea went back to normal straight away. You count it from that last bleed as those first two weeks before conception are stil counted in the pregnancy timeline and taken into account with measurements in scans. Congratulations :)

Yes, happened to me! Sadly I didn't manage to keep the baby but had a successful pregnancy almost immediately after and dd is now 3 years old. Congratulations!

Yes. I stopped taking the pill on 15th Aug, had sex once on 29th Aug and got a bfp 3 weeks later after having massive sore boobs and feeling out of sorts while waiting for my first period.
I'm waiting for my dating scan to confirm dates as I can only go off date of conception.

Congratulations Grin

I did. Finished the end of the pack, had a bleed a few days later then got a bfp 4 weeks later. Was a shock to get caught so quickly (DS had taken years) but apparently it's very common

Yes DD1 is 9 years old. Congratulations
When i did I was told it could be the first cycle. I got a positive hpt a mere 4 weeks to the day after the last pill.

I stopped my pill, got cold feet straight away, and said I'd go back on it after my next period (that's how that version worked).

DS is almost 29. :)

I stopped taking the pill early Dec, had a period about 3 weeks after (my pill stopped my periods) and when my next one was due found out I was pregnant. Dd has just turned one. Have you seen a midwife yet OP? perhaps they could send you for an early scan to try and confirm your dates.

Yup. Pg within four weeks of coming off it. Apparently some women get a hormone surge when stopping it after years.

I have an appointment tomorrow with a doctor (I have to have it confirmed by a doctor before the midwife makes contact) so will ask about an early scan then but from other messages on this thread it seems it is possible to get pregnant so quickly

Oops- posted too soon. I'm sure being about a week out won't matter at this stage anyway would it?

Yes happened to me. Had to use the date of my last bleed as obvs hasn't had a proper period. When I had my 12wk scan the dates me only 1 day out so I'm sure it will be fine. However, it didn't mean much as DS was 10days late. Now pg with #2 and tracked periods in the months running up to Ttc and dating scan was 3/4 days different to LMP. Hopefully it means this one will turn up on time!

Both my babies were conceived within 10 days of coming off the pill, no period at all either. In fact dd2 was conceived despite having had no period since dd1 was conceived!

Yes me!

I came off my pill 6th October and had a period 23rd October. Just found out I am pregnant and the cb digit said 2-3 which means I am already 4-5 weeks. No idea how to work that out!

Should have seen it coming as had a similar experience with dc3 and was 16wks at the first scan. Still in shock at the mo.

Yep! Took last pill may first, never got a period and got BFP in June. I am now 27+3 which means that my dates worked out as if the last day of taking the pill was the first day of my LMP. Was surprised it happened so quick!!
Congratulations! Dont worry too much about dates they can confirm them all at first scan :-)

Another one here too! I had come off the pill 2wks earlier in readiness to start trying 6 months later (give my body time to return to it's own rhythms etc). Condom broke and we didn't use the morning after pill as we thought just off the pill, one off, DH is getting on a bit: 'what are the odds?'. Ha! DD is 17mo.
I'm 6+3 with number two at the moment. Fell pregnant on the second cycle, although first cycle we only dtd once, and only twice in the second month. DH says he is going for the snip AS SOON as Sprog2 is in our arms! It's clearly just too much of a risk to leave it. He's been feeling very proud of his 'super sperm' however Grin

My pregnancy was dated from 3 days after my last pill. Clearly ovulated straight away.

It's clearly possible if you are already pregnant!

Me! I got pregnant within 10 days. I was pretty surprised.

First pregnancy on the pill! - none missed no stomach upset or antibiotics or anything but was 18 so probably super fertile.

Mate fell on it too same as me but she was 19.

2 other friends fell as soon as they stopped never having had a proper period. Big shock for one as she'd thought she'd have trouble conceiving if anything!

Congratulations
